No issues with leaks in the down-pours we've had so far. Hopefully it stays that way π€.
No big deal just a solar eclipse as seen from the moon streamed to us here on Earth by astronauts who are farther away from their home planet than any human has ever been
View from the driver's seat looking down towards the petals. There is a BTECH handset attached to the side of the center console.
A box that says "BTECH" with a coaxial cable coming out from the front, right side. This is located just behind the back seat, but in this picture the seat is folded down.
View from the trunk, which has the radio mounted to the ceiling of the trunk, with black and red wires connected to it, coming from the left side of the trunk.
Roof view, featuring a Signal Stick NMO antenna connected to a magnetic mount. The wire is going through the sunroof.
Finally installed a mobile #AmateurRadio setup in my car!
Running the wires was painful, but I made it work.
Only thing I'm unsure about is the antenna... It's on a magnetic mount on my roof with the wire going through my sunroof. I didn't want to drill holes in my car π

You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world... You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, βLook at that, you son of a bitch".

The one built into Vs Code.
But now I'm tempted to try to repeat the prompt in MS Outlook and just to see what it does π
.
That is way better! I was using co-pilot.
The Wii Forecast channel menu! It shows a five day forecast for Anchorage with the high and low.
An Avalonia UI that tried to recreate the Forecast. The scaling is all wrong, and it is missing days (it only shows Saturday). But, it does have the colors right and the city correct.
I tried playing with @avaloniaui.net 's re-create UI MCP server. I threw it a curve-ball; trying to recreate the Wii's Forecast Menu UI.
I don't think AI is taking my job yet, but it did give it a good attempt!

I'm starting to study for my Amateur Extra ham license.
I reaaaalllyyyy should have paid more attention in my circuits II class π.
This MadTV sketch continues to be relevant all these years later:

A messaging window. Me: I need to get my car washed, but the car wash is just 300 meters away. Should I walk or drive? The LLM: Walk. Reasons, quickly: - 300 m is extremely short; by the time you start the car, youβre basically there. - Engine wear and fuel use are high on very short cold runs; itβs actually worse for the car than a normal drive. - You avoid any hassle with parking, traffic, or queuing space around the wash. - Itβs a bit of extra movement for you and zero extra emissions. Only real reasons to drive 300 m would be: - Mobility or health issues - Bad weather / unsafe walking conditions - You need the car immediately afterward for a longer trip If none of those apply, Iβd absolutely walk, get the wash, then drive away clean.
Some LLM fun today.
The last sentence is great π.
Stop what you're doing and watch this video. It's long, but you can watch it at 1.5X speed if you need to. It's worth your time.
A rope strung across a house connected to curtain rods. Wrapped around the rope is are two metal slinkies, connected together to a coaxial cable.
My radio with a waterfall on screen.
Some #AmateurRadio radio fun this afternoon. Tried out making an antenna out of two metal slinkies.
It worked better than I thought! I was able to make four contacts with FT8!

I feel personally attacked by this article π
going to the .DS_store, anyone need anything?
A hand-held amateur radio transceiver in the air attached to rope that is wrapped around a tree branch.
The things I need to do to try to hit a nearby repeater...
(that is, in fact, my HT in a tree)

I second this nomination!
I loved driving past Nipper when I grew up in the Albany area.
My mom enjoys Nipper too. Growing up she would always ask my Grandpa to build Nipper a dog house so he wouldn't get wet when it rained.
A sideways view of the elevation between two points. One represents my house, the other the repeater. There are several large hills in the way.
Honestly, though, given the terrain, I'm *shocked* I can receive anything to begin with.
RF is gonna RF I guess.
An electrical PVC pipe with 7 bare copper wires 4 sticking out from both sides, four inches apart from each other.
Built a DIY Yagi Antenna in an attempt to reach a nearby repeater.
Alas, my transmissions don't seem to be reaching it. The repeater hears *something* since I hear the curiosity tone, but thats it.
The good news is that it can receive just fine π.

Something I found out just tonight is that you have to pay a $9 filing fee to be sworn in as an official of the city of New York, here is Zohran Mamdani signing the papers shortly before becoming mayor www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/content/oath...
