Someone needs to do a themed cruise featuring Samuel T. Herring, Grouper, Squid, Leftover Salmon, Shad, Feargal Sharkey, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Hot Tuna, Eels, Hootie and the Blowfish, and headlined by Phish, who could perform Captain Beefheart's "Trout Mask Replica" in its entirety.

I mixed up Belo Horizonte's location with that of Curitiba. But since I said I'd post every day with at least one perfect score, here we go: www.maptap.gg April 22
99π― 97π₯ 100π― 81π 98π―
Final score: 933
Good to know - it's crazy/amazing that he's 85 and still touring.
This is tough - Two good-to-great albums from acts that were revered, but not exactly cool in 2001. Love and Theft was beloved by boomer critics, and "Iron Flag" was lost in the shuffle. Dylan gets my vote because I saw him on the tour to support this and the show was fantastic.
I'm not a fan of either album - both are likely in the bottom 10, if not the bottom 2, of the tournament for me - but voted for Rilo Kiley because I like some of the guitar work in some of the non-songs.
My research indicates it is pronounced as d-n-tel, though I mistakenly pronounced it as Intel with a d in front when I played them on the radio back in the day.
The karaoke lyrics for "Bette Davis Eyes" spell it out as "Betty Davis Eyes" - I am amused by this and think this is the right choice.
I think you'd still like Pickathon. The food is good, the views are good, and you can sleep in a hotel and take a shuttle or uber if you want - it's not crazy busy or large, which was great. Osheaga will likely be crazier. I'm anticipating like Lollapalooza but with hills and therefore better views.
Looks like I'm in the minority here. while "All is Dream" is not as good as Deserter's Songs, I still love the atmospheres and soundscapes that Mercury Rev has created here. "Chains" still sounds particularly good. I listened to each album at least 10 times upon their releases and revisited today.
I've felt this way about every Muse album. I've never seen them live, but the experience could be incredible if they stuck to the early-ish hits.
two very different albums serving very different purposes. "Origin of Symmetry" has 3 great songs, and a pretty good cover of "Feeling Good." The rest is mid to bad. the other is an aphex twin album - Vote goes to Aphex. But would go to muse if every song were as good as "New Born."
I've also secretly hoped for an MJ Lenderman/Luke Combs collab for some odd reason.
This kind of thing never would have happened in the 90s. Then again, a song like "Choosin' Texas" never could have hit #1 on the pop charts. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
Tiktok gets you halfway there, which is still pretty great
When you combine TikTok with traditional media, the network effects are astronomical - he's the 41st most popular artist in the world on Spotify. I enjoy his music and liked his performance, but I'm not blown away. Lots of potential though.
Interpol is now officially opening up for Sombr - at Rogers Arena in September.
I don't think that Scorpions, the band, will play Coachella anytime soon, but they would assuredly be in camping areas. Renting a vacation home or staying in a hotel is your best bet
I still want to go to one of the big English festivals - maybe next yeae
And there was no Ferris wheel back then
The other stages were good and never really super crowded. On another note, Gigi Perez is better than expected
It's been 19 years since we went, and that was pre-influencer. The big challenge with Coachella is the heat, general lack of natural shade, and a lack of a hillside that makes it easy to view if you are not right in front at the Coachella stage
I think there are enough people with rich parents, especially in SoCal that they can comprise a significant chunk of the audience. I think a lot of 30-ish people go just for the scene. I'd take the kids if the US ever becomes sane again.
I like Cameron Winter, but I have a feeling that the kids aren't going to be seeing Geese when we go to Osheaga (I may not either, depending on who else is playing at the time)
oops - LCD Soundsystem was an evening set. Arctic Monkeys had a daytime set both there, and when we saw them at Sasquatch.
what's more surprising is that Jack White was playing White Stripes songs sans-Meg at a daytime set. I should also mention that when I went in 2007, some of the best sets like LCD Soundsystem and Amy Winehouse were daytime sets.
at that point - a 7 year old from Stratford, Ontario. And then I would say, yeah, that sounds about right.
More than you think - that record is turning 25 this year, and Coachella is not a cheap ticket. Julian Casablancas looks good for his age, but doesn't look like Julian Casablancas anymore, but I guess that's what Sombr is for.
The Mersey was more recognizable to me than San Diego Bay - I couldn't make out some of the San Diego coastline's more discernable features.
