Artemis II mission will send humans back to the Moon for the first time since 1972. The first time around, in 1969 it was a global event that had almost everyone glued to the TV screens.
Turns out many scientists are not that excited by what’s scheduled for April 1st 🧪 www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Lonsdale's notebooks, showing incredibly neat and consistent handwriting
We couldn't let World Handwriting Day go by without sharing Kathleen Lonsdale's penmanship ✍️
Lonsdale conducted pioneering research in X-ray crystallography and worked at the Ri. In 1929, she proved that the structure of benzene was flat—the chemical was also discovered here, by Michael Faraday.
Registration for the 11th European Crystallography School (ECS11) is now open! Topics: single crystal XRD, powder XRD and 3D electron diffraction. Details can be found at ecs11.org and registration at docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F.... We hope to see you in Stockholm!
By 2028, all 4-character PDB IDs will be exhausted.
After that, all new entries will receive extended IDs: 12 characters total, formatted as pdb_ + 8 alphanumeric characters (pdb_1000axyz)
Test it from PDB Beta Archive

A unique honor to become a Foreign Member of the @royalsociety.org, together with my @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social colleague Stuart Russell and old friends like John Briggs, Asia Akhtar, Patrick Cramer or Ruth Lehmann. Learning about great science and science history was a real treat.
This is some really cool natural history, but I don’t like the spin that Science is putting on it. I don’t see any reason to think it’s evolving into a virus and the one outside researcher that they spoke to was dubious as well.
I am really happy to share with you our latest publication on turning the inhibiting nucleation effect of silica gel on protein crystallization by increasing the hydrophobicity through controlled functional modification. #chembio, #ge3c-rseqf
