MEDIA coverage of the tribunal ruling on Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife has one common characteristic: a disconnect from what the tribunal ruling actually says. Across Tuesday's front pages, the 312-page ruling was presented as a clear "win" for the nurse - despite the fact she lost on 43 of her 47 allegations, including every one she made against trans doctor Beth Upton. Crucially, the four points on which Peggie succeeded concerned only NHS Fife's handling of her complaint, not her interactions with Upton. READ MORE: NHS Fife 'harassed' Sandie Peggie - but doctor did not, tribunal rules We will not explain the bare bones of the case here, that has been done enough elsewhere. Instead, this is to highlight the parts of the tribunal ruling that have been missing from the bulk of media reporting. By way of an example, among the newspapers that splashed the story on their front pages, only Metro noted that the tribunal had found Peggie's behaviour constituted harassment towards the same doctor she later complained about. Not one reported that the tribunal alleged that Peggie was in "breach" of the Equality Act - and of her employer's Bullying and Harassment Policy.
