I'd love to hear what you find. For cataloging, I'd be tempted to use Excel too. My first instinct was to suggest Notion or Airtable, which are cloud-based but very open and configurable, quite the opposite of a MS product. In practice I'd probably end up with a clunky hack in emacs org-mode 😬
