When I see an Amazon truck that blocks my view, I slow down as I pass it and I hover my foot over the brakes. What do you do?

An accidental Pigovian tax?
"No more shoes?"
"Nope. AI all day."
"What does that mean?"
"It's AI. It's in everything. It's the future. So we're the future."
"What does your AI do?"
"Multi-modal agentic self-supervised latent-space singularity."
"You don't know what that means, do you?"
"No."
"Here's a billion dollars."
Love this so much

His image IS a political tool. His name IS a brand. Always has been.
SHOULDN'T be those things, agreed. But come on. Please engage with reality.
Through his hedge fund, I believe.
He used to invest in private prisons. Not saying it's a dealbreaker, but it's ugly.
Mr Swalwell, uh just uh one more question if I can, I really have to make sure I got it all right... your lawyer, in the middle of the night, knew which women were making accusations against you but they weren't mentioned by name... so how did he know who to contact?
🚨Hopkins Street🚨
With an important Council committee vote coming on April 15, it's time, yet again, to speak up for pedestrian🚶♀️, bicycle 🚲, and transit 🚌 improvements on Hopkins!

I feel like some politicians need to stop trying to get a promotion. They're effective where they are!
Q: How will you celebrate your birthday?
A: Walking to the north side of Albert Bridge to gawk at drivers trying to navigate their vehicles through the bollards.
White text on black: doesn’t matter whether you walk bike roll take transit or drive. We all want the same thing fewer drivers.
Unity
This little story from Rigel Robinson (former Berkeley Councilmember) about meeting Eric Swalwell is both hilarious and also gets to the heart of why I don’t trust him (Swalwell).
And have the voiceover read the tweets in his voice.
I grew up near Hwy 24 in North Oakland. Miraculously, we never really had to deal with noise and/or soot. There was quite a lot of tree cover between us and the freeway; that might have had something to do with it.
A drawing titled "Wild Rabbit vs. Easter Bunny". On the left, there's a wild cottontail bunny sitting down looking alert. On the right, there's a cartoonish Easter Bunny wearing a little polkadot vest and standing next to some colorful eggs. The wild bunny is labeled "Eyes on the sides of the head to watch for predators." and the Easter Bunny "Forward-facing eyes to hunt for meat." Wild bunny: "Active all year." Easter Bunny: "Only active in Spring - otherwise in diapause as a cyst?" Wild bunny: "Walks on four legs." Easter Bunny: "Unusual bipedal stance." Wild bunny: "Plain brown and white fur." Easter Bunny: "Distinctive vest-like markings." Wild bunny: "Gives birth to live young." Easter Bunny: "Steals and redistributes eggs; parasitic reproductive strategy?"
Few are brave enough to acknowledge the truth.
Did Elon throw a rock at it?
Folks, we went to the Oracle of Delphi, a very beautiful woman. And she said, they told me not to say it, should I say it? She said that if we went to Persia a great empire would fall! So we’re feeling pretty good about how it’s going.
It's pretty light (46 pounds), decent motor, has a throttle. It's pretty much like a regular bike but it goes 30% faster with 30% less effort (on the lowest setting).
I felt the same - too many choices. Eventually, I got an Aventon Soltera 2 on sale ($1200 down to $1000). I figured I'd get something basic so as to learn what I like and then upgrade after a year or two.
As it happens, I've had it for 15 months and I haven't felt any need to upgrade.
Apologies, I read that as stressing over his declining ability to drive. If he's still driving fine, that's great. No need to lose his license yet.
Retesting every year or two would go a long way to fixing this problem.
I don't want to sound mean, but yes, I want him to lose his license so he doesn't kill anybody.
And yes, I do end up chauffeuring my elderly dad, and it often sucks, but it's better than him killing somebody.
It's not all about me, or you, or him.
I think this is the way:
"If you know someone who may no longer drive safely, you may submit a Request for Driver Reexamination (DS 699) (PDF) to DMV to review their driving qualifications."
I wish I had known about this *before* Dad totaled his car. Again.
Look, I’m just saying you never hear about somebody protesting a fundie Evangelical church for their support of Israel and/or the war despite being more politically influential. It’s always a synagogue.
I loved her nickname for Moses and his ilk: Highwaymen.
Start by hiring a bunch of journalists who *hate to be lied to and manipulated*. Hire journalists who view concentrations of power & the bubbles of groupthink that surround them with instinctive skepticism. Hire journalists who assume billionaires & their employees are lying. It's so basic.
The data also showed that most drivers — 64% — only triggered a warning once. But a smaller group of repeat offenders accounted for nearly two-thirds of all violations during the pilot period. About 30% of warned drivers were caught two to five times, and 4% received six to 10 warnings. A handful of drivers pushed the numbers even further: 11 motorists racked up more than 30 warnings each during the five-week pilot. “Who are those 11 people and why are they driving?” Rowan said. Over one-third of Oakland speed warnings went to repeat offenders Distribution of warnings by unique license plate during the pilot program from Jan. 14 to Feb. 21, 2026).
For 5 weeks, Oakland's new speed cameras have been issuing warnings. Starting March 15th, tickets will be mailed to people exceeding the speed limit by at > 10 mph.
So far the 18 locations have seen 140k instances of speeding.
Most people were sent one warning. 11 people have been sent 30+.
