Someone said to me today that they don’t read Romantasy because so much of it is bad. I am truly baffled by this idea, which ppl always say to me. Much litfic is bad. Many thrillers are terrible. Every genre has shite books. But ppl only use that excuse to dismiss books women read and write.

This is Taryn and Flinn’s story. It’s simple but sweet: they’re thieves in a rival gang. They have to find 3 objects while being bound together because of a curse put on them by a maiden. It’s literally forced proximity and also fake (but of course not fake) marriage. I enjoy this series.

I too was born to be a skunk ornament in a crone’s cottage. (Also Jesikah Sundin’s Bound by Ravens is too slept on.) #romantasy #jesikahsundin #crones #books

I’m a Romantasy researcher and the number of folks who said they turned to this genre after giving up on Bible studies is FASCINATING

Listen so hard right now. Lyla Sage. Writing about ghosts. And love. While working in an antique shop. You need this. #romance #lylasage #soulsearching #books

All of Mas’s shifter books but when I tell you I devoured them . . .

And it’s not even necessarily true bc we know AI can now simulate human errors to sound real but I nearly weep for a common splice these days.

SAVE Act Would Undermine Voter Registration for All Americans Congress should reject this antidemocratic and ill-conceived bill.

The SAVE act would mean that, if you are a married woman who took your husband's name once married, you would no longer be able to vote. This is HR 8281 if you want to read it for yourself and it's already passed the house. #saveact

I’m in the mountains in TN & mom casually mentions that she saw a “massive shadowed creature on two legs with hooves swaying back and forth while looking in the window” last night around midnight. We are on the second floor. 😳

Dad and I watched George C Scott’s 1984 Christmas Carol every Christmas Eve. The composer, Nick Bicat, never released the soundtrack but will mail it to you if you can track down his email address, which isn’t hard. Now, each year, Bicat sends us new songs and updates as “stocking stuffers.” 🥰

We listen and we don’t judge: I always watch Unsolved Mysteries hoping that one episode will end with a surprise announcement that they have, in fact, solved the mystery.

Being middle aged involves having a favorite Publix because you can’t be bothered to learn a new layout of a different store. #Publix #Florida #middleaged

I did unpresentations this year because I didn’t want any more death by PowerPoint. They were also fantastic.

OK, it had to be done.

I may have arrived at Scrooged past the nostalgia threshold date?

I can tell a lot about you by how you rank your Scrooges. Obviously it’s George C Scott, Albert Finney, Michael Caine, Scrooge McDuck, in that order?

When you’re a professor administrator these are the hardest two weeks because as an instructor I am DONE but now I have to field grade grubs and complaints but I just want to bake cookies and read fairy smut.

I’m in a Romantasy reading group on FB and it’s the only way I use that platform now. It’s delightful and my TBR is huge.

Once I nervously approached an editor about my first book at a conference. First time pitch. The editor pretended not to be himself (I knew him by sight but he didn’t know me) and said he wasn’t there at the moment. I just had no idea how to handle that.

My TikTok feed is alternating Wicked choreo, ads for skin care products, and live streaming various coups. It’s like one of those flipbooks from childhood, only a dystopian hellscape.
