Let's sum up Trump's tariffs.

1) They were illegal and also corrupt and arbitrary.
2) They did real damage to economy, esp farmers, small business.
3) Lutnick cheerled them while his spawn prepared to $$.
4) Corps (& some small businesses) finally getting refunds.
5) Consumers will get squat.

AI has definitely made the bad students worse, whereas the good students remain the same. I think cognitive atrophy has harmed them esp foreign language students who are translating everything with AI and not practicing English. They are bombing in person exams

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas blasts progressivism as threat to America He said that the values enshrined in the 1776 Declaration of Independence have “fallen out of favor” among Americans.

A man who is literally bribed by billionaires, whose wife's life's work is based on hostility to the Americans, has the gall to talk of cynicism:

"A spirit of 'cynicism, rejection, hostility and animus' toward America—by Americans—has taken hold, Thomas said in remarks carried live on CSPAN."

Fun facts and FAQs about Megalodon, Maryland’s new (and definitely extinct) official state shark This week, Maryland became the first U.S. State to have an official state shark! Otodus megalodon was a really cool shark that is rightfully beloved by many, and Maryland’s Calvert Cliffs are…

This week, my state of Maryland became the first U.S. State to get an official state shark!

I wrote about why Megalodon is awesome, how we know that it's extinct, and what having a state shark means for modern-day shark science and conservation

I'm fine, everything is fine. 🧪🌍🦑🦈

Trump’s Blockade Risks Upending an Emerging Détente With China

Today's exhibit of Things Can Always Get Worse and Probably Will: "In a thinly veiled critique of the war in Iran, China’s leader said the world could not risk reverting “to the law of the jungle.”

Now there's no question China has been trying to crack down on the Internet.
(Chuckles.) Good luck! (Laughter.) That's sort of like trying to nail jello to the wall. (Laughter.) But I would argue to you that their effort to do that just proves how real these changes are and how much they threaten the status quo. It's not an argument for slowing down the effort to bring China into the world, it's an argument for accelerating that effort. In the knowledge economy, economic innovation and political empowerment,
whether anyone likes it or not, will inevitably go hand in hand.

Trying to track down this alleged letter from Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun to the White House. Doesn't appear in any Chinese official sources, and it seems to be fake. No clarification yet from Chinese authorities. First mention I can find is this post on X:
