2/3 However, there is no room for complacency, with gender + some regional variations showing no closure in the attainment gap. Michele Gregson, GS NSEAD: ‘No child should have their life chances diminished due to their postcode or address. How can we ensure that all learners are able to shine?
We want to congratulate ALL students and teachers for helping young people to achieve their potential. Art and design A level (GCE) entries have decreased very slightly this year, whilst across nearly all grades attainment has risen. 1/2

We welcome the announcement with the report that a National Centre for Arts Education will be launched in September 2026, and the recognition that art and design education requires support and investment if learners are to thrive.
Some of NSEAD’s key recommendations raised in our submission to the call for evidence are highlighted in the report as areas that need reform, including: the impact of the Ebacc, the importance of digital literacy, critical thinking, and green skills.
