Yeah I saw that article in the current yesterday about the upcoming Lubitsch series at FF, what an outstanding lineup! Oh how I wish I lived close enough to attend any or all of them!
Blue-tinted screen cap from the restoration of Ernst Lubitsch's PNE HOUR WITH YOU (1932) starring Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette McDonald.
Sepia-tinted screen cap from the restoration of Ernst Lubitsch's PNE HOUR WITH YOU (1932) starring Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette McDonald.
One more enticement to share is that One Hour With You uses lovely tinting in its nighttime outdoor (blue) and upscale interior (sepia) scenes, which wasn't shown in the DVD transfers.
I received a review copy of the Lubitsch Musicals set in February. The transfers are superb, absolutely worth the upgrade. Even Monte Carlo glows without the full restoration.
Ouch! I got mine for much cheaper. Abe Books has a used copy for $20 plus shipping if that helps. www.abebooks.com/Warriors-Cam...

Thank you! I'm glad to know that you're tuning in!
i've passed up several opportunities to get the Blu-ray upgrade but this looks too good to resist. I have fond memories of our conversation from 10 years ago! But the file is no longer up on the site. I'll have to ask Ryan for a copy. :) criterioncast.com/podcast/crit...
Thanks for the note - I'm really happy to resume the podcast after a 7+ year break and delighted to see that a longtime listener is still tuning in!

Stepping briefly out of my Criterion-centric podcasting habits, I had a few things to say about this poignant, heart-wrenching animated Japanese film set in the final days of WWII.
So glad to be revisiting the work of Abbas Kiarostami with my podcasting partner of many years!
