Jeff Sharlet: God forgive me but I’m going to quote post in a not-so-nice way to say, You know what really alienates people? A government saying some of us don’t exist. Time to step up or step aside. Joel Curzon: We just lost the election over this stuff. I have no problem being polite by honoring someone’s preferred pronouns, provided that they haven’t forfeited such politeness. But expecting everyone to announce their pronouns is a bit of performative behavior that alienates many people.

We need people brave enough to speak up for what’s right now more than ever.
