My personal opinion is that Xela is a great place to learn Spanish. It's spoken more slowly there so easier to pick up, because K'iche Mayan is the native language, Spanish second.
Also, less touristy, and some absolutely stunning views there. (I have a couple of videos up from there too! ✌️
