I'm pro fandom as gift economy, I love the concept, but I *also* think glorifying the idea of fic as a selfless gift gets wanky (plus it bugs me that this attitude is only ever applied to fic, not art, which is not inherently "safer").

Like. I do think it's fair to critique the fact that the tradpub industry only seems to want to extend these offers to m/f writers. I don't think it's fair to assume that m/f writers are all straight women, any more than it's fair to assume m/m writers are all straight women.

Still don't know exactly how I feel about that filing-off-the-serial-numbers article, but I did read some very thoughtful responses in the QTs.

If you haven't given feedback yet, please do. The window is small. The terms on adult content are vague enough to put so many artists at risk of arbitrary interpretation. They conflate fictional situations with real-life abuse. Ask them to revise and clarify.
