Ok great - if they want the Pope to stay out of politics, then they will stay out of religion, right?

Right. And when the stock market wildly goes up and down, market insiders further fleece the average person.

Math and old pots! #ceramics
Oh, so the guy who lied about the East Wing renovation, then bulldozed it, is having his corrupt buddies at the DOJ investigate Powell for supposedly lying about a building renovation. This administration is criminal, from top to bottom.
Get these masked goons off our streets NOW.
Austin Peay State University caved to a Republican politician's tweet and it cost them half a million. Good for this guy for fighting back. And he's a theater professor!
"We got a lot of problems in America today and invading, occupying, and running Venezuela doesn't solve any of them."
Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.
Graded student projects nearly all day long, so I figured I earned a little studio time today. #wip #ceramics #ceramicart
Imagine signing up to be a State Trooper. You work hard, pass all the tests, and you're ready to protect the people and make a difference in your community. Your assignment: guard a women's restroom.
Indeed! Now if they would only stop attacking higher education. One can dream …
I'm also a professor in Indiana, and I'm shocked and proud of Indiana today, too!
Great final critiques today at IUS Ceramics! It’s such a gift working with these students 💙 #iusceramics
Wow, I love the detail on those dragonfly wings!
As a father of a five-year-old, I wish that every restaurant had a bag of frozen chicken nuggets in the freezer - then there could be a secret code word that all parents and servers know. The nuggets aren't on the menu, but they're always there to subvert a meltdown.
If only it would tell them to slow down on small narrow residential streets with kids playing.
Awesome. Congratulations!
For some reason, this post from last week never posted the images. Anyway, I finally finished this new work. It's headed to the State of Clay in Indiana exhibition next week, so if you're headed to the Indiana Clay Conference, check out the exhibition! #ceramics #indianaclayconference #ceramicart
What a great idea! I have my students maintain a weekly blog where they chronicle their successes (and failures) in the ceramics studio (I teach ceramics at Indiana University Southeast). Often, the students write about ideas and other life happenings, but I love the idea of a commonplace book!
Tenured folks, you may not know how to catch up on preparing, so some starting points from someone who was once faculty & is now a higher ed labor organizer:
-Join your campus AAUP chapter.
-If you don't have one, start one—talk to another AAUP chapter in your city/state to make connections. /cont
Ugh, what an absolute disgrace. Hoping that professor can find a new home somewhere far away from Texas.
Ugh, what a disgraceful set of actions from these administrators. In the video, it's very clear that the student baited the professor into this. It's so awful. I'm in Indiana, which has a political climate similar to Texas. It's a matter of time before this happens at my university.
Question for the academics out there. Have you ever heard of a program without a coordinator or chair? The admin at my university (IU Southeast) removed the coordinator role from all programs. Our Fine Art Program has 140 majors, 6 fulltime and 7 parttime faculty .. and nobody coordinating it.
Of course! I can send you the case study, too. It talks about your work creating the Planned Parenthood Saved Me Tumblr. The course is Strategic Management for Public and Nonprofit Organizations, and it's at IU's O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. What's the best way to send it?
I'm working on a paper for my nonprofit class based on a case study about when Komen tried to pull funding from Planned Parenthood years ago. An inspiring part of the story is the "Planned Parenthood Saved Me" Tumblr that @deanna.bsky.social made. I love amazing grassroots stories like this :)
We love ours too :) My daughter feeds them "snackos" everyday, so they chase her around the yard sometimes :)
My daughter made this card for her friend Rosalind. I love how she ran out of room for the words, "Happy Birthday", so she just continued it backwards so it looks like it's bouncing off the heart 😂
Too late! We only have three chickens, but they make tons of noise in the early afternoon, around 1-3pm!
The regional campuses will suffer the most. Bloomington and Indy will find a way to protect themselves. Interesting that IU President, Pamela Witten, just got a 28% salary raise and another $225,000 bonus. Curious timing, especially since there was a no-confidence vote for her earlier this year.
