It's all so exhausting #PMQs
Ministerial resignation when?
👀
Liz Truss on X “on the 100th anniversary of her birth, we still miss her” Pick of Queen Elizabeth II and Liz Truss meeting just before the Queen died
Let’s not miss this banger of a tweet amongst the political shenanigans today.
Not going to help with the “she killed the Queen rumours” lmao

Policy & public affairs professionals anticipating all the new letters they’ll have to write if Starmer resigns and we get our 5th Prime Minister in 4 years
Keir Starmer famously said there was "no such thing" as Starmerism. He was half-right: there is no such ideology. There is however an approach to managing and running the country that is core to so many of the government's difficulties that we probably should call 'Starmerism'. In tomorrow's paper:
Surely Keir Starmer can’t be bothered with being PM now.
He’s in his sixties, he’s got a nice pension underpinned by a personal law.
If I were him I’d quit, do a small amount of backbench stuff and then resign my seat in 2029.
It can’t be worth it, I don’t think he even has goals to achieve.

Fleetwood Mac "Silver Springs" - Stevie Nicks sings Was I just a fool? I'll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you to Lindsey Buckingham
Emily Thornberry not being brought into the Cabinet in 2024, being elected Foreign Affairs Committee Chair and now perpetually haunting Keir Starmer will never not feel like natural justice tbh.
It's giving "Silver Springs" to me....
If Badenoch does become PM because of this saga then truly there is no predicting anything in politics now. We're so through the looking glass now I can't even see Wonderland.
I hate giving Badenoch any credit but publishing the questions to Starmer and giving them to him in advance is an original and inventive move for a LOTO, I'll give here that
Badenoch is being quite calm and serious so far, surprisingly.
I don't know if going in so hard on FCDO officials will have any other implications for effectiveness of Government response during an international crisis. This is however an absolutely wild story on so many levels. Public trust in politics is so low and I can't see how this saga helps.
*good
It's still clear Starmer should have never appointed Mandelson. It's important he's recognised this, but it's still an appalling lack of judgement it happened anyway. Mandelson was not known as someone of god character.
Pin drop silence in the Commons so far. Woah.
Starmer statement incoming...
PoliticsUK Tweet: NEW: No 10 sources say the public will get to see “angry Starmer” in the Commons later today QT: Kevin Schofield, HuffPostUK: Labour MP responds: A picture of Ned Flanders from The Simpsons going “Aw, hell! Diddly-ding-dong crap!”
It’s also underpriced how much mainstream politicians are being affected by this ecosystem, and how it’s shifting the Overton window further and further right
If Starmer had just one job to do as PM, it was to clean up politics.
If he has lied to the Commons about Mandelson’s vetting then he really must resign.
It’s not credible that no one outside FCDO knew Mandelson failed vetting.
This stinks and if is the case is so hypocritical of the PM.
The thing is, this approach to these issues is alienating everyone. The GC crew will see any toning down of EHRC guidance as a betrayal. Progressive voters think they're bigots. Lose-lose.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Labour manifesto is pumping out transphobic policies in health and justice. Grim.
The EHRC guidance issue could be solved if the Labour Government grew a backbone and legislated to clear up the mess presented by FWS. They don't because they're too cowardly. And as they won't, they become complicit in the ever-present anti-trans bigotry. This is a permanent stain on their record.
