(I will note that I feel sweaty and disgusting most of the time these days.) Anyway I wish we had clean air and high UV so I didn’t have to DYI my own individual public health.

She seems young to be on urinary food but cats seem hard wired for urinary issues.

I still mask whenever I share air with other because of chronic illness. I’m perimenopausal on top of being super sensitive and it feels horrible. Sweaty, disgusting. I do it because I absolutely can’t afford illness but anytime I hear folks saying it’s so easy, it fills me with rage.

It sucks. I want to do things. I can’t because I’m tired and nauseated and dizzy. I love cooking and hosting, I love restaurants. I don’t risk either because I absolutely can’t afford another infection, potentially getting worse. I want to be living life, not resting forever.

This is me. I was already chronically ill, long COVID made my illness significantly worse & less manageable. I’m forced to stay home way more than I would like because a) my symptoms are so bad that I’m often too poorly & b) I have to be careful about reinfection. I fucking hate it, it’s boring af.

I seem to have killed my hoya linnearis. I’m really good at killing plants that are hard to get my hands on.

Sometime I wonder if students pay attention to my comments so having a bunch of them using some of the sources I suggested to them on feedback for their proposals is nice.

Is there a single instance when austerity has kickstarted economic growth?

👏 Canada 👏 Post 👏 is 👏 a 👏 public 👏 service 👏

Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.

Apparently Sam Altman also wrote a manifesto (on top of Marc Andreessens a while back). Are there others?
Genuine question: why do we think the tech bros are doing this? Which need does this fulfill for them?

Carney's public service cuts will have real impacts on Canadians' lives from the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat to Indigenous services for communities and access to services for all Canadians.

I hated it so much. Though now that I have long covid on top of my pre-existing chronic illness, I’m way too tired and too cautious to socialize like it’s 2019. Very much to my chagrin.
Also not an extrovert and probably not neurotypical.

I expect it’s a stopped clock moment with her and we will have news of more evil corruption tomorrow.

Cops keep showing up to arts events about Palestine. What can organizers do? Toronto police showed up at a comedy fundraiser and at a film screening on the same night in April. Organizers describe how this fits into a broader pattern and what can be done to protect community…

Toronto: What we’re seeing now is that (police) are not even distinguishing between protests, academic events or cultural events. Any time there are Palestinians speaking about Palestine, they are viewed as potentially anti-semitic or promoting violence.” www.thegrindmag.ca/cops-keep-sh...

Anyone arguing that some flavor of AI literacy will protect women from AI deep fake porn is at best unserious and at worst desperate to protect their automated goon generator. This is prima facie not a literacy problem.

Picture of street filled with people when cars are prohibited, with a prominent sign saying “road closed.”

Via Urban Truth Collecrive

(Also, it’s a street, not a road)

How come they keep spelling “open” wrong?

Does that street look closed to you? Only if you’re a car… and presumably that’s the real problem. #UrbanTruth

All of society is oriented around the habits and preferences of early birds, let us not-morning people be happy about this one concession!

Not for me. The early sunsets in the winter make me severely depressed. Meanwhile June sunrises in Edmonton are around 5, I would absolutely hate an hour earlier.

Good on BC for making some dominos fall. I can’t believe we have been stuck in the time change bullshit for so long.

"Expanding public housing has also been shown to exert a price-dampening effect on the private rental market, which works against the financial interests of landlords and investors."
Many of whom are MLAs and MPs, who are not about to disrupt the status quo that benefits them.

Felt fine all day yesterday, went to an art opening, stayed up all night sneezing. Is this a new phase of chronic illness where I have become allergic to socializing / leaving the house?
