Clearly you needed more supervision!
Maybe hands are the problem. You should try rubbing that tummy with your face. For science.
Yes! It is going to be fun.
Me too!
I just got a peek at my Gen Con Writers Symposium schedule and I'm really looking forward to it! I get to be on panels with cool people!
My high level overview is that making people wde through slop drives them away, thus creating an incentive for companies to put effort into stemming the tide of slop.
My statement about declining social media engagement came from graphs and a link to an article I saw in a Threads post. The graphs showed a clear decline, particularly with Facebook. Sorry I can't find that article just now, but this one hits some similar points: socioblend.com/blog/is-face...
Sorry I couldn't find the actual KDP wording changes. Don't have time to dig further right now.
KDP changes upset authors because there are new payouts thresholds among other changes. www.writercosmos.com/blog/amazon-...
B&N Press sent out an email raising the minimum price for ebooks, limiting indie publishers to only 100 titles, and disallowing the publishing of public domain books.
This was announced in an email which I got because of having 2 books published over there.
The moves by B&N and KDP also create barriers and hurdles for beginning Indie authors with low sales numbers, which is why I heard about the moves, but I think the driving need is to slow the flood.
Both Kindle and Barnes and Noble have both made moves to quash the flood of AI books this week. The flood is chasing off sales.
I would love a comparative graph between the rise of AI content and social media viewership.
They won't. Social media engagement is measurably down the last few years. Some of that is the enshittification of the services, but some is that slop is just not compelling.
My brain totally does this. I was standing in a bakery in Montreal, wanting to order in French and my brain supplied a mix of college German and Sesame Street Spanish.
It was not useful.
Just a reminder that any connection on a social media platform can be yoinked away by that platform without notice. If there are people you want to retain a connection with, follow them on more than one platform

Well that's a fun error. This morning Bluesky decided that every notification I had ever received was all new and therefore I had exceeded my rate limit and was not allowed to see my notifications or my profile.
Fortunately 10 minutes later it allowed me in and I've cleared it.
Yay! See you there!

Yellow tulips near a tree stump
I love the contrast of new growth next to the remains of what was. I still miss this walnut tree, but am looking forward to seeing which of the seeds I planted near it will take root.

Close up of lilac blooms
This lilac was a cutting from the bush at my Grandma's house. Now it thrives here. And I remember her.
Iβm not sure which one of these pics from Artemis II is my favorite.
Both are absolute magic. β¨π€β¨
