A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.

Twenty. Five. Years. 🫠 That time in my life was not great, but this song, and everything surrounding it, holds happy memories for me.

Headed to Detroit tomorrow for the NCECA conference! I’ve never been before (to Detroit or the conf), and I’m super excited to nerd out about all things ceramics. Also hoping to make more pottery friends. If that’s you, please say hello! ✨

And a less flippant explanation of NO READSIES (always all caps) is this insane cueing/assumptions concept that I didn’t know existed before I read this thread:

My friends call it NO READSIES, after players blatantly not reading tutorial text in their game. It’s been applicable to so many things in life and we always yell NO READSIES at each other in situations just like yours!

Two, Ronnie? Why did you not stop at one. ☹️

lol, @bterrormisu.bsky.social & @sarahyu.bsky.social refer to this as a “no readsies” sitch. Whenever we come across players like that, we yell out loud, “NO READSIES!!!” 🫠 It’s somewhat cathartic and definitely applicable in other areas of life too.

I appreciate how open and transparent Moo has been throughout the entire development, and now launch, process. I’ve learned so much!

Happiest of birthdays, Uni & Ebi! 🖤🖤 My favorite posts are where your dad can’t tell if it’s you, or a sweatshirt. Keep up the good void-work, boys!

Mythmatch's the type of game I'd encourage devs to check out, even if you think it's not your genre

The merge & movement mechanic is so fluid, it's so cool to see how this game takes a regular mobile game mechanic and really recontextualize it

A hand holds a small bulbous vase with the Kiln game logo on top of a striped background. The piece is made with white porcelain and celadon, a classic translucent green-blue glaze. Unfortunately the glaze was contaminated and there are dirty-looking splotches in what should a clear piece. :(

Another piece of pottery for @doublefine.com’s Kiln! This water-etched, high-fire porcelain and celadon piece didn’t make it out of the kiln (lol) in time for Day of the Devs, but it did get a lil’ gold star from our studio manager. 😊

Blithe Spirit Breakable Vase (Small) by wstpropshop Used in the Walnut Street Theatre's 2022 production of Noël Coward's "Blithe Spirit" - this vase is made to be re-breakable in show conditions. There are holes embedded in all the pieces to allow for ...

This was the breakable vase model we used, it was so well designed and fun to work with!

I got to hand both of the pieces to the Kiln team at Day of the Devs yesterday. We played a bit of the demo and I, of course, loved the character creator portion. Can’t wait to smash more pots when the game is released!

Fragments of a yellow and orange vase are arranged on a piece of cardboard that shows evidence of spray painting with an orange paint.

The fragments have now been assembled into a solid yellow and orange vase that shows the Kiln logo.

The second piece of Kiln fan art was inspired by @bterrormisu.bsky.social
who suggested I also make a “breakable” vase. Jeff helped me slice and print a 3D model I found. The various pieces are held together with magnets and sanded/painted to look like one of the characters from Kiln’s key art.

The shino turned out beautifully with metallic flashes, orange glow, some crackle in the glaze, and dynamic carbon trapping. A bit too much carbon obfuscating the logo (shino does as it pleases!), but I'm still practicing being ok with whatever comes out of the kiln.

The other side of the same vase has the Double Fine logo. This side predominantly has the orange and white colors of shino with a bit of metallic spotting and crackles in the glaze.

The same pot on its side and upside down. This shot shows more of the carbon trapping, gray specks and shadows amongst the crackles in the glaze and lots of metallic flashing.

The top of the vase shows the purple-reddish band around the rim that leads into an opaque white with crackles. A geometric pattern is shown throughout these bands of colors.

First piece was a traditional pot made with the shino and oxide high-fire reduction technique I've been working on. It was the perfect chance to try more complex shapes with the Kiln & Double Fine logos.

I like games and I like pottery! So my chaotic brain decided it wanted to make some fan art for @doublefine.com’s upcoming game, Kiln, with less than a week to prep before my favorite event of GDC, @dayofthedevs.org.
