It's been a relatively lucky week. First I won a raffle (a couple nice book store gift cards) with only the one raffle ticket included with my ticket purchase for the Geek Partnership Society Pirate Cruise. And now I've won two tickets to see the Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse from the Current.

That's like telling water not to be wet
Our goal for this year's Art Shhh-anty silent auction was to raise $7500. Bidding officially closed at 8p CDT. As it turns out we ended up raising $10,254.52!!! Amazing! We were literally joking about the impossibility of hitting $10,000 earlier in the week. #Minnesota #TwinCities #ArtShantyProjects
@mayorfrey.com you said MPD would not help ICE, so what do you have to say about this?
We are now seeing officers put hands on the crowd that only wants to keep our neighborhoods and residents safe. This is wholly unacceptable and not in line with our public safety goals. Our communities will continue to push back on the blatant fascism on display here.
‼️ LAKE & BLOOMINGTON — EMERGENCY ACTION ‼️
ICE is actively executing a coordinated raid using paramilitary equipment in Minneapolis. Protesters, electeds are gathering on Lake & Bloomington to show opposition to this
act of terror.
SHOW UP — LET’S TELL ICE TO GTFO MINNESOTA!!
49% progress
It's gonna take a big-time community push before June 1 💪

The second annual Art Shhh-anty silent auction officially opened this morning. Lots of great things to bid on, and help support public art while doing it. www.32auctions.com/ShantyAuctio...
I find it mildly silly that I only saw this news because of your post, and not on any local news site.
I'm reposting this just because I couldn't find any word of it anywhere other than here. Not on ESPN, nor either of the two big MN newspaper sites, or the smaller MN news sites for that matter.
IT is funny how only when rollerskating are you truly reminded that there are muscles on your shin.
Just bought some cheap roller skates so that I can accompany Nessa out on the tennis courts. Put them on for the first time and went outside to try and break them in a little. I was a tad wary/ worried but I didn't fall. On the other hand those muscles (calf, shin, ankle) were like, "WTF!?"

This just isn't right. It reminds me of why I stayed away from stadium shows for so long. Concerts shouldn't be passive experiences
I'm at the Palace Theatre waiting on Thrill Kill Kult and Ministry. The weirdest part about it is I'm in a seat.
One of the more challenging/interesting parts of my job is that I'm often having to "invent" a way to do something, learning on the fly, figuring it out at the last minute, and then likely not needing to use that knowledge again just as I figure it out and know how to do it well and quickly.
I played it a bit, but don't have a PC with a good enough graphics card to actually delve into the PCVR stuff. Currently I'm using an old Mac Pro trashcan for my main computer.
After having started playing it several years ago I finally dove in and finished the VR game Moss this afternoon. There are so few video games that I have actually ever played all the way through to the end. Took me a moment to remember what the hell was going on. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moss_(v...
Funny, I'm really not a horror movie person, but part of me is suddenly interested in Crypticon pretty much solely due to the the chance to meet Warick Davis.
Ran into the same thing with Garbage at First Ave.
Just happened across this article about the most recent show we installed at the Walker, "Ways of Knowing." www.minnpost.com/artscape/202...
My first thought was "minus 6" when reading, but I think conversationally I'm more likely to say "6 below". From northern Illinois.
This continues to be the biggest story in the country: DOGE has already squandered half a trillion dollars in 6 weeks. Not billion. half a trillion, $500 billion talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/irs-p...
So on top of homeschooling already lacking significant oversight when it comes to education, and the lack of mandatory reporters, thus being a useful tool for abusers, now we add in the impetus of it being an excuse to be able to put kids to work generating income.
So Florida has found an answer for dealing with employee shortages- change child labor laws to allow children(16-17) to work any hour of any day if they are homeschooled, eliminate working time restrictions for kids(14+), again, if they are homeschooled.
I'm catching myself falling into the same traps I did during the current POTUS's first admin, and particularly during Covid. Namely diving into rabbit holes trying to debate people on social media with reason, logic, and evidence. I need to get back to avoiding the rabbit holes.
AOC: What they like to call as radical, I believe is common sense.
I believe that when a person gets sick, they shouldn’t go bankrupt in the wealthiest country in the history of the world. Common sense
I believe that a minimum wage should cover the minimum cost to live. Common sense...
AOC: I want to live in an America that guarantees healthcare to every person.
I want to live in an America that has a living wage for every person
I want to live in an America where you have free speech to express yourself and not be afraid of being put on a list or deported.
What large chunk of the left? The difference with Obama and the left vs. Trump and the right is that those of the left were still willing to voice their differences of opinion with Obama, and call him out when they disagreed. That said I'm pretty certain Obama would win running for POTUS if he could
