perks of being a cartoonist:
- comics are cool and sexy which means being a cartoonist is also cool and sexy
- your professional colleagues are all cool and sexy
- you can drink beer while drawing comics
- the government hates cartoonists

the bad stuff:
- everything else about it is bad

I can actually see both sides of this. It's easy enough to pop over to Wikipedia to find out that like, Bruce Wayne's illegitimate son's roommate is Batman now, but on the other hand, that doesn't necessarily make for the most satisfying reading experience.
