It's not "historical" when failure to protect/respond to abuse and abuse coverups have occurred under 5 of the 6 current leaders of Ethnos360. Leadership that enables/is culpable continues to hold all the power with no accountability or consequences.

When you pay attention to the examples they use, you find their idea of handling abuse well includes moving an abuser from one Ethnos360 facility to another resulting in the abuse of a toddler.

The legacy of abuse and coverups in Ethnos360 isn't magically going to change, especially not with no consequences for active leaders who cover up abuse.

Their best-case scenario

Their best-case scenario, that they use as an example of how they're responding to abuse, includes communication failures, ignoring red flags, moving an abuser from one Ethnos360 facility to another, all of this resulting in the sexual abuse of a child.

When the responses are the same as they have been for decades, even during the era they admit abuse was rampant, you can assume the environment remains the same, unsafe for children.

An unsafe org discounts people for feeling upset about things that would make any reasonable person upset -- abuse, coverups, moving abusers from location to location, allowing known abusers to have children over for sleepovers, to name a few. When members defend the org with "they're bitter," ๐Ÿšฉ

A great analysis on Ethnos360/New Tribes Mission's abuse response, which reveals a lack of desire to know the truth and pursue it and the careless way they approach very concerning allegations, allegations that, if true, mean children continue to be in danger.

In the privacy of boardrooms with other executives, Ethnos360/New Tribes Mission will admit what their priorities are. The reason we don't know who abused children and who covered it up is because they don't want us to. They are controlling the information.

There's always more Josh Weeks

"As if allowing someone with a history of sexual misconduct to work and live at a campus filled with children wasn't concerning enough... There was a history of child abuse, a history of sexual exploitation, warnings of concerns about possible abuse..."

When the argument against exposing abuse and calling for accountability is "Look at all of the good things we're doing," they're essentially admitting they don't care enough to ensure children's safety and any amount of abuse and leadership cover-ups happening are acceptable collateral damage.

When you're at the Ethnos360/New Tribes Mission Missionary Training Center, they'll tell you all of the ways they will keep your children safe, all of the policies they'll follow, the accountability they'll enforce, but once you're working with them, you may get this response. You're on your own.

This is why Ethnos360/New Tribes Mission doesn't deal with abuse. They choose not to believe it, and when you choose not to believe it, you create an environment where abuse flourishes.

"We have found a substantial percentage of missionary kids are exaggerating or lying about their abuse."

Josh Weeks: Indonesia, Missouri, and a Federal Investigation In 2019, Josh Weeks was sent home from Indonesia.

The perfect example of ignoring red flags, then downplaying harm to children, only to allow a perpetrator of abuse more access to additional children. This is Ethnos360/New Tribes Mission. If you can justify this, you're the problem.

Abuse reports, abuse response, and missing names

How does Ethnos360/New Tribes Mission keep their list of abusers to a minimum? Not by preventing abuse or responding decisively. They keep it to a minimum by removing names and leaving names out.

Where are they now?

So many children have been harmed after other children were told to forgive and forget. Heartbreaking.

Please proceed with caution with Ethnos360. Decades of child abuse and leadership coverups demonstrate a lack of integrity and prioritization of child safety. Read the latest update about a missionary pilot serially harming children with little to no consequences for decades.

"Without accountability, it won't stop." So true, as evidenced again & again ad infinitum throughout white evangelicalism.

A missionary pilot protected by the system

Ethnos360/New Tribes Mission leadership allegedly authorized a missionary in his 30s to "date" at least one missionary kid and knew about his "relationships" with teenagers. A missionary pilot protected by leadership at the expense of children.
