I've just caught up on the highlights after a day at work. Great win and big 3 points! I can't say I was confident going into it but the Reds delivered.
I also love the fact that Mo Salah goes down in the history books as the first scorer in a Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson. ๐ช๐ฌ๐

As a squad player, on a free transfer. Yes!
He seems to drain confidence from the players when he should be building them up.
I hope he proves me wrong but I really believe the club will be making a big mistake if they let him lead us into next season. Especially given this sell to buy approach.
Of course. I am sure they will save over ยฃ300k per week. It just seems strange to me that Arne Slot is now saying we will have to sell in order to buy when Salah, who could still potentially command a fee of tens of millions, is allowed to leave on a free.
If the club needs money in order to sign new players, why is Mo Salah leaving on a free?
It's been a decent showing by the Reds against one of the very best sides in Europe.
Hopefully the players will give it the same effort the next time they play the likes of Burnley, Wolves, Brighton etc. They can't expect to turn it on on the big stage without putting in the groundwork first.
I feel it's unlikely but an early goal and a strong first half could change that.
I am amazed to see that Chris Kavanagh isn't involved in some capacity!
Absolute class that, Rio! ๐
Much quicker so far, much more urgency and desire on show. Just score now Reds!
Happy birthday, Jamie!
Like I say, I don't see it.
I don't see that he adds much and when it's a three man midfield I think it's weaker with him in it.
I know the price tag isn't Wirtz's doing but ยฃ100million? I don't see it and I have been prepared to be patient with him. He seems quite slow, in and out of possession, doesn't work hard defensively and goes missing too often. I hope he comes good but so far he's the same level as Curtis Jones.
Ekitike has had a decent first season overall. 17 goals so far is a pretty good return.
I don't see why Wirtz and Kerkez shouldn't be lumped in with the other names you mention though?
Kerkez has improved but after an awful start and Wirtz has been underwhelming to say the least.
Andy Robertson. An all-time best XI player for Liverpool, certainly in my lifetime.
Thanks for the memories Robbo! ๐๐
There is always hope but the big thing for me is can we stop PSG scoring at Anfield? I can't see it. Our midfield is too porous and our defence gifts too many opportunities.
2-0 isn't the end of the world but let's be honest, it could easily have been 5 and we didn't look like scoring.
I was wrong. I can't be happy after that performance. It was men against boys. As Stevie G said, "toothless"!
Would anyone be surprised if they scored 6 at Anfield next week? I certainly wouldn't.
He can't possibly stay, can he? It's constant regression and four or five signings isn't changing anything with Slot in charge of them.
They are very good to be fair. It's amazing we aren't losing by more, the way we've played tonight.
There is absolutely no risk involved in making a change or two up front, Arne. One goal could completely change this tie.
For me, Ekitike just needs to focus on being a goal threat up front. He drifts around and never seems to be in a central position when he's actually needed there.
Yeah. Especially tonight, playing a changed formation in a Champions League Quarter Final. I genuinely don't know what Wirtz's best position is. He looks to me like he could be a false 9, like Firmino. That's obviously not the plan though, spending all that money on Isak and Ekitike.
We might as well, Wirtz doesn't really do any defensive midfield work anyway. Mo is just as likely to unlock this PSG defence.
Ekitike hasn't offered much so far. I'd give him 15 minutes to make something happen or throw Isak on. Wirtz needs to be much more involved in that attacking midfield role as well. He looks like a passenger most of the time.
I reckon these long throws are the only reason Joe Gomez is starting this match tonight. What have we become?
This is the least optimistic I have felt about a Liverpool game for many seasons.
Realistically I would be happy with anything below a 3 goal deficit going back to Anfield.
I just hope the Reds can pull out a performance and surprise us all, PSG included.
Curtis Jones looks like he's lost the ability to run. Any chance of a sub, Arne?
I am including 28-year-old Joe Gomez in that. He's absolutely done!
I would be surprised if City don't add to their total, put it that way!
