All that stuff isn't so bad once you go through it a few times and get used to it.

And that assumes it's only 3 hours lost. Living near a hub means I can preferentially pick nonstop flights. I fly overseas a lot. If I miss the nonstop flight to Munich, I may arrive 36 hours later than planned. Whether that's for work or for fun, why would I want to risk that?
I guess my only flight-missing discourse is that even ignoring the money aspect, losing a bunch of time really bothers me.
I pick the flights I do so that I can arrive and do things. Why wouldn't I get to the airport an hour earlier than I need to vs. spend another 3 hours not where I'm going?
Someone should* do whatever coding thing one does** to make a feed of posts that generate 12+ likes from accounts that were here back in the invite-only era. Call it "OG What's Hot" or something.
*OK, for small values of "should"
**I'm just an idea guy here, I don't code
You still would have easily made What's Hot back in the day with that many likes, I wouldn't push it here.
Obi-Wan and Dexter Jettster, who had the best chemistry of any two characters in that whole stupid movie.
I'm trying to pick a flavor, and I'm in one of those moods, and Eric is telling me what's new that day--Coconut Chip, or whatever...and Bass.
"Bass?" I ask.
Eric nods.
I look up and somehow stay deadpan.
"The fish?"
It was always called "Bass Ale" after that, but a grad school meme was born. /
I'm reminded of one of my all-time favorite interactions. It was grad school, we were in Eric's Ice Cream, which served more than ice cream and was a favorite haunt of us grad students.
Eric's was the kind of place in the 90s that would make slightly off-beat flavors like Grape Nut or Ouzo.

I mean, just look at his name!
I have the humbling privilege to be in charge of the RSA (aka ZA) squad, and win or lose* it's been fun to listen to the songs** in the competition.
*but hopefully win
**If Algeria could use their Game 1 song for every match they'd win running away IMO

Yes, of course, phone. I want you to correct "the like" to "thr like". Thanks for fixing that.
Yeah, I was _shocked_ that AI/tech didn't try to sell themselves and their products c. 2024 as part of a perhaps rocky but unavoidable phase on the path to a UBI future of leisure. They maybe could have bought themselves some goodwill or at least time. But no.
You're also assuming here that you're not traveling as part of a party that has at least one person who is unable to handle/lift typical carryon bags.
ZA manager here--we wanted to say that we know we can't take this Mexican squad lightly, and want to come out of the gate strong since we know we've got a real battle on our hands today and every day.

Rockland County, man. I'd try to reach for some metaphor other folks could understand but it's impossible. A large state's worth of centuries of nonsense (derogatory) and nonsense (complimentary) packed into a tiny area. It's just Rockland County.
And I'm a Rockland County boy saying this.
So, in other words, you're going to not say what you mean because you don't want to admit it. Gotcha.

I'd be happy to come up with another 90 or so celebratory gifs this year for this sort of thing.
You know how "may their memory be a blessing" is a traditional Jewish phrase of condolence? "May their name and memory be erased" is the also-traditional equal and opposite sentiment.
I remember this one--the Dolls took a 6-run lead into the 6th, but the Alfajores kept grinding away and went into their last at-bats down by only 2. Bloop and a blast territory.
Anyhow, Soriano looked shaky but in the end threw a clean 9th inning, and the Dolls got back to .500.
tjStuff? Is that like the likelihood that your pitching style is going to lead to Tommy John surgery?
So, I was just thinking of Chunky bars* the other day when I had their commercial jingle, a rewrite of "My Boyfriend's Back" as an earworm.
*but only in this abstract sense since I've never had one
And this is obviously the right time and place to post the music video for his biggest hit, which was my first exposure to Tim Curry (admittedly I was 10 when this was on the radio, and not aware of Rocky Horror at that point...)!
Hundreds of scientists are running for office. We see the damage and danger to our democracy.
Me: “I am deeply unhappy with how unequally power is divided in our society. I have used my abilities to level one part of democracy’s playing field: by repairing unfair elections.”

Surely @darthbluesky.bsky.social has already been alerted, but just in case...
I am fighting in the War Against Christmas (drafted by the pro-Christmas side and, ironically, assigned by them to the side fighting against it) so you probably don't want my opinion in any case.
