Both Berger and Page are Republicans. This was the Republican primary for Noth Carolina State Senate.

Berger was running against Sam Page. Sam Page is a popular sheriff in the district - people like him. Berger tried to get a casino built in the district. That made people who lived there mad. Berger backed off on the casino but too late. Page gained support and got a few.more.votes.than Berger.
