I am decidedly NOT a morning person, never have been, but I'm currently taking a medication that makes me nauseous AF when I get up & holy crap is that doing my head in. I cannot with this shit, it's awful.

The best part of paralegal training is that it's super useful in many job areas. It's not a "secretarial" degree. I say go for it!

PS: since a paralegal cert or associates (what I got) can be had from a local community college, the cost wasn't prohibitive for me. Having degrees already allowed me to just take the core classes. Was done in 18 months & it was paid for when I graduated. I was 55, hard to believe it was 10 yrs ago

I'm seeing this cuz I'm connected to Dr. Liz, but I have to respond because I am originally a biochemist who burned out in biotech, and got a paralegal degree. I now work in a state administrative office of the courts supporting the rule of law and human rights. Best career decision I ever made.

My dad's side of the family includes Samuel Prescott. Always lights up a bit of pride and patriotism to see him mentioned.

With you. I had an extremely shitty work week last week. I took Friday off to escape and I have spent the last 3 days mostly just staring at nothing. Sucks.

No offense to Mamdani or the internet or my friends or me on days when I'm not struggling, but maybe Democrats got burned out on trying to run on policy solutions and sometimes even succeeding and America turning around and electing the crassest, grossest, shittiest arsonists and cheering the flame.

MmmmHmmm, completely understandable. I have other connections saying similar. And I have a penchant for following academics, I can say that some of them are feeling exactly the same.

Human nature, sadly, instantaneously assumes that one will have less, versus all will have more.

And that threatens them.

It's like that meme about pie & human rights. Human beings are greedy muthah frackers.

I wonder if this new fish species discovered in the Strait of Hormuz has anything to do with it...

When I first graduated, I worked at Boston Univ Sch. of Med. My department was very multicultural. Our director created a slush fund for each researcher to cook the food of their country or ancestors. We all bucked in & ate some very wonderful lunches. Korean was my favorite. Still is.

They're rather stingy with all of those.
