Yes there is a long period of time, but a part of the region was still commonly known as Philistia even during the period of Jesus.
The relevance of this is that the history of the name for the region exists and where it comes from explains why Jesus wouldn’t have identified as Palestinian

Philistia and their control of the Canaanite city states extends until Assyria curb stomps them and Israel, but the name of both regions remained.
