What Should We Know About the Term “Minor-Attracted Person”? Author: David Prescott, LICSW, ATSA-F We recently received a phone call at Safer Society from someone who had visited our website and seen the term “minor-attracted person,” also known by the acronym “MAP.” This person was obviously upset and told us that, in his view, this seemed like more o

“As we have long known, the sexual abuse of children is not restricted to a few highly prolific, dangerous people who persist in hurting others. Rather, there are enough people with sexual thoughts about children to consider it a public health issue.” safersociety.org/what-should-...

I discovered the murky world of 'minor attracted people' It's even more disturbing than you think.

"The Prostasia Foundation is one such group, campaigning to reduce stigma and help MAPs have law-abiding lives. They argue that efforts to combat child sexual abuse are ‘driven by emotion rather than evidence’, which they believe undermines effective prevention." metro.co.uk/2025/08/09/d...

A chunk of silicon is neither a child nor can it be abused. Going after literal chunks of silicon, takes away resources that could be used to help ACTUAL real living & breathing abused children.

We need science-based, effective measures to support minor attracted people and other people at risk of CSA. Religion will not save us.

The current reactive system meant to protect children is clearly failing. We need proactive supports. CSA is as old as human history, and the way we've always done thing is still not working.

We need to stop infantilizing adults. Treating 20-somethings like children distracts from real child protection—and insults both groups.

At least some good news. Strong abortion laws help keep women, trans men, and children safe.

Disabled kids like mine rely on Medicaid to survive; this bill cuts Medicaid.

I don't know how else to say that medically complex disabled children will die as a result of this bill.

ICE helps round up sex workers in Florida A recent "human trafficking enforcement operation" in Polk County, Florida, led to 244 arrests—albeit none for human trafficking. If this sounds familiar,

Florida police used ICE to arrest nearly 100 sex workers, boasting about the number of immigrants caught.

The "human trafficking sting" turned up no actual human trafficking, but in a perverse twist, ICE can now abduct and traffick said "victims" to who knows where, for who knows what.

Target's 'Pride' campaign potentially violated child protection laws in some states, attorneys general say Seven U.S. state attorneys general informed Target they are "concerned" the company's "Pride" campaign might have violated their state's child protection laws.

Also not maybe a coincidence, that Missouri's AG also is went after Target's Pride displays using child protection laws.

Both the age-verification law and the Target attack use the same "harmful to minors" three-prong standard.

This is great firewall stuff.

Airport human-trafficking posters are overstating the risks to young people "That guy isn't being trafficked by anyone," says sociologist Emily Horowitz.

An update on my reporting from March: RAINN has taken a step further and banned resources for trans people and immigrants.

Many had defended RAINN, saying they would still serve trans people. Clearly that was wrong.

NYTimes did the recent reporting, but did not cite me.

Stop KOSA KOSA is a censorship bill that won’t make kids safe. Instead, it'll put all internet users at risk, especially youth. If you believe in a free and open internet, tell your lawmakers to reject #KOSA!

KOSA is being reintroduced today.

It's always been a dangerous censorship bill.

But in this environment, with Trump weaponizing every aspect of the Federal government to suppress speech he doesn't like, KOSA is a catastrophic attack on human rights.

We have to stop it.
