Walk in flat springtime light. Lots to see, but my eye felt a bit off.
Regis Prograis fights today. I wrote this about him a few years ago.

I take the same photos over and over trying to get them right.
Btw, the laughter was at the suck eggs remark not the good advice!
Hahaha, no! My idea was to simply combine the caption and Alt-text in the same space.
I have an editing and publishing question!
Have any of you made the choice to collapse image captions into alt-text to save space on the page?
Welp. It turns out that both of our dogs are antivaxxers. We did all we could to raise them right and talk to the about so-call “science” and “evidence,” but it hasn’t moved the needle.
I was happy with this photo.
A color photo of water intake tower and some icy water.
A color photo of icy water around reeds.
A color photo of a water intake tower with a frozen river in the foreground.
A icy river with some flowing water around the shore.
I finally got my Sony cleaned up and out today to take photographs. Lots of grey and brown which I find comforting.
Some nice local media coverage for the latest book from The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota:

Here's a link to the book. It's free: thedigitalpress.org/booms/
A very high contrast black and white image of a storm drain emptying into a drainage pond.
A drainage channel from a drainage pond emptying into a frozen river with a water intake tower in the background. Also high contrast black and white.
A color photo of a storm drain emptying into a reed filled drainage pond. Swirling water emerges from the drain. In color.
A color photo of two storm drains emptying into a drainage pond filled with reeds.
The article is: "St. Demetrios, the Gladiatorial Combats, and the Stadium of Thessaloniki" by Michalis Karambinis.

From a recent Hesperia article:
"The image presented by the description is strikingly similar to that of modern boxers or mixed martial arts fighters who enter the ring by jumping over or otherwise passing through the ropes or net."
Sadly, the author does not cite this:

I see you, Grand Borks.
It's honestly impressive how every new Mac OS update these days only makes everything I want to do slower and shittier.
A black and white photo showing the reflection of a tree on a sidewalk surrounded by grass and patches of snow.
A black and white photo showing the reflection of a tree on a sidewalk surrounded by grass and patches of snow.
I photo of a pink step stool with a plug connected to an extension cord on it. A green hose flanks the stool on the right.
Two planters with terracotta puts underneath them in a snowy garden.
A tall thin pine tree standing in a field with patchy snow.
A vaguely modern house in flat light.
A crack in the surface of the ground.
A small shrine by a tree with a cross and some flowers.
A few more from my walk the other day.
A dusky pink frisbee golf wicket in a patch of snow in front of a pine tree.
A frisbee golf wicket in a patch of grass surrounded by snow in front of a black and brown marsh.
A dusky pint frisbee golf wicket in a patch of grass surrounded by a patch of snow with a curving snowy trail in the background leading into the woods.
A dusky pink frisbee golf wicket next to a line of tree in the background and road.
Look at me up and "doom scrolling"!
I will make a habit of this yet.
Some photographs from my walk yesterday. I'm obsessed by the pink frisbee golf wickets against the brown grass and patchy snow.
Prayers for Dickinson, ND's Isis Sio.
Yes, but it doesn't seem to be.
I wonder if the family planted the tree as a memorial at some point and perhaps even installed a marker. After the flood, maybe they return from time to time to remember?
A bouquet of flowers and a simple wooden cross with a few plastic gewgaws at the foot of a tree and above a concrete base. It looks like a burial marker. Maybe it is. But its in a public park. There some snow in the background. The tree is mature. The flowers are pink. There's a ribbon on the cross. It looks like someone cleared the leaves and dead grass from around the concrete base.
I saw this little shrine in Lincoln Drive Park in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It looks like it marks a simple concrete headstone that might have at one point supported a cross.
As far as I know there are no burials in the park. Maybe this is a cenotaph or the grave of a beloved pet?
A black and white photo of a frisbee golf wicket (if that's what they're call) near a thawing river surrounded by dry grass.
A sign for a cross country ski trail and a sign that says "No Snowmobiles" in brown grass near a curving still snowy trail.
A dusty pink frisbee golf wicket (if that's what they're call) set in the snow with a thawing marshy area behind it. Grey heavy skies.
Seasons changing.
On all sides prevailed a conspiracy of decent reticence about the gap between fact and theory. It was evident: no profit but only danger from talking about it.
oVeReXpOsEd.
It's that time of year.
A photograph of a wood pie chest with perforated metal plates in the doors. A circle of sunlight is on one of the handles which is slightly askew.
In my effort to increase my time "doom scrolling" (which also seems to overlap with "staying informed" and "knowing the truth"), I managed almost 30 minutes over the weekend.
Here is a photograph that may be a metaphor.
Despite my resolution to "doom scroll" more and chime in regularly on social media, I'm struggling to develop the habit.
Here are some of my Florida photos arranged as a little photo essay. Something something metaphor or political commentary.

A photo of rust stains down the back of a building topped with a satellite dish.
The interior of a commercial building with its roof collapsed.
A crushed traffic cone on a parking lot in front of an abandoned store decorated with a Mexican mural.
An abandoned store in an empty parking lot.
Florida scenes.
