There's a schol comm advocacy side to this too, since, I'm guessing, those chosen journal titles are the ones, more often than not, that are grossly over-priced. 4/4

A big benefit of discovery systems, after all, is that they don't preclude accidental discovery of sources which the user didn't exactly intend to search for. 3/4

As someone who earned their stripes at the reference desk in the days of, "I know the government website has that information, but I need a photocopy of a print source," I would hope there is still some gentle pushback against these scavenger hunt types of criteria. 2/4

Interesting discussion on Primo-L today about accommodating those, "Search for articles on your topic, but they must be in one of my predisposed journals" assignments, which to me sound like they were designed in the era of browsing Current Periodicals. 1/4

I've had a few rough days getting used to my new Invisalign. Sore ligaments that hold my teeth in place, mainly.

The initial hype over Wikipedia was largely ignored by librarians. It could be wrong, after all, so the site shouldn't be trusted. Hallucinating large language models are now facing a similar treatment. Never mind the fact that non-librarians, again, are off and running with the new technology.
