most places have impossible burgers now. the best is culvers, tho, because they make their own delicious veggie patty
even in suburban neighborhoods, kids should have total control of roads. cars should be treated as second-class occupants. let kids be kids, let them explore the world on their own. stop pushing the narrative that parents need to always watch or else theyre negligent. its just not true
these replies reinforce my theory about why we live in such a low-trust society filled with lonely kids now. children need to be trusted to go out alone without being surveilled by their parents. living in a city helps by allowing them to access public transit and bike shares.
that... is the wrong takeaway from this lol. have you ever watched a kids show set in an urban area (sesame street)? density, and the ability for older kids to access amenities without relying on a driving adult results in a well-rounded, open-minded kid. suburbs create isolation and loneliness
this type of thinking is why we have a loneliness crisis. parents should be able to let kids over a certain age outside without constant surveillance. independence and trust are so incredibly important for child development. and this thinking is why kids aren't allowed to play outside alone anymore

its that time of year where a bunch of people do performative environmental work and pat themselves on the back for participating in earth day and drive themselves home in a massive pickup truck they have never hauled anything in and water their horticultural atrocity lawns at noon
free bus fares are good actually. but the silver lining about the return of fares is that I can grow my transit card collection.
