Our paper on cyanophages of marine sponge symbionts is finally out. It is the outcome of a great collaboration with Laura Steindler's lab and was led by Tzipora Perez.

๐ฃExcited to share our latest review on using single-cell methods to study host-virus interactions in the ocean - led by Amir Fromm (@amirfromm.bsky.social) and Talia Shaler (x.com/ShalerTalia), in collaboration with Frank Aylward (@foaylward.genomic.social.ap.brid.gy) >>

How do populations develop resistance to viral infections?
We mapped the transcriptomic landscape of algal resistance to lytic viral infection and identified a unique set of resistance-related genes expressed in those cells >>

We show that viruses are active agents that recycle carbon fixed by productive chemoautotrophs, shaping our understanding of carbon cycling in redox-active ecosystems.

Can you add me? Thanks
This paper has been a long time coming: We looked at the genomes of historical bacterial samples over a century to look for trends of antibiotic resistance genes, finding multiple instances of them in infections before the age of antibiotics, but an increase in both frequency and mobility after
