Screenshot, made on Ubuntu. A first-person view from the video game Doom (2016), showing a dark, sci-fi laboratory or industrial environment. The player character holds a futuristic weapon with glowing blue lights. Robotic arms hang from the ceiling above a blood-stained operating table surrounded by lit candles. Sparks fly from a damaged wall on the left, and various control panels and screens are visible throughout the scene. The overall atmosphere is grim and ominous, with a mix of advanced technology and ritualistic elements.

A while ago I added Ubuntu as a dual boot to my Aurora R16, to play with it, see how it feels. And what's interesting - I never booted Windows since, not even once. Ubuntu does everything Windows does, often a lot better.

It's even a perfect gaming OS ffs.

Screenshotted excerpt from linked article reading as follows:

"In public, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has cultivated a reputation for care and caution. The papers reveal a different side of him. At a critical moment for the country and the court, the papers show, he acted as a bulldozer in pushing to stop Mr. Obama’s plan to address the global climate crisis.

When colleagues warned the chief justice that he was proposing an unprecedented move, he was dismissive. “I recognize that the posture of this stay request is not typical,” he wrote. But he argued that the Obama plan, which aimed to regulate coal-fired plants, was “the most expensive regulation ever imposed on the power sector,” and too big, costly and consequential for the court not to act immediately."

New York Times got receipts on John Roberts being like, 'I know this isn't how anything works, but a Democratic president is about to implement a policy!!'

I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"

I travelled 27 hrs, fought endless visa issues to give this talk for our award-winning paper at #CHI2026.

Your turn to show up 📍 P1, Room 112, Apr 15 (Wed), 12 noon. But why?

I wish the didn't impact every knowledge worker. Sadly, it does, and we need to talk about it.

And now Vanessa Wyche, head of the Johnson Space Center and NASA's highest ranking civil servant, is the responsible for the longest manned space flight in history

Trump went from making insane genocidal threats this morning to hyping the “golden age” of Iran hours later, and he received no concessions in between. He’s an absolute basket case who needs to be removed from power before he follows through on one of his mass murder fantasies.

I'm not sure how you can be against removing this man from office right now. What will it take? A nuke being dropped? It's too late then. The purpose of impeachment and the 25th Amendment is to prevent that type of thing from happening, not just to react to it.

I hate having to do the "look, they're normal just like us" post, but sometimes you have to do that when American propaganda tries to convince everyone Iranians are "animals".

Completely unstable and perilous. The House must bring up impeachment articles, and the Senate needs to remove a president who wants to commit war crimes. We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump threatens to end an entire civilization.

All but three (!) of the 1,651 refugees admitted into the United States in the three most recent months we have data are white South Africans.

For comparison, in 2024, the U.S. admitted 100,060 refugees. It's an explicit white supremacist project.

Two brilliant civil rights lawyers - one Asian American; one Black American. Both women. @aclu.org’s Cecellia Wang & @legaldefensefund.bsky.social’s @janainelson.bsky.social. They argued two of the most consequential cases in SCOTUS this year. This embrace is one of my favorite moments of the day.

The fact that Trump is going to oral arguments to pressure the justices to acquiesce to his attempted nullification of a constitutional amendment and create a stateless class for the first time since the civil war, illustrates what is really at the core of the Trump project and it isn’t tariffs.

A staggering new finding from Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies: since 2001, the money left over each month for lower-income renters—after paying rent and utilities—has fallen 60 percent to a record low of $210.

$210 left over for food, healthcare, childcare, and everything else.

Meditation for Palm Sunday at Gethesmane Meditation for Palm Sunday at Gethesmane Jerusalem, March 29, 2026  Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, may the Lord give you peace.  We are here at Gethesamne

Wow.

So...having been denied entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, it appears that the Latin Patriarch held services outdoors.

At Gethsemane.

10/10 use of symbolism, no notes.

This is not a question of “how do we train students to use AI?”, but how we train students for a life of learning. Gen AI encourages behaviors such as cognitive offloading and, frankly, lying, while reinforcing harmful stereotypes embedded in the models’ training datasets.

Suburban school district uses license plate readers to verify student residency A mom says a suburban school district is erroneously denying her daughter's enrollment because of data from a license plate reader company.

The school district has a contract with Thomson Reuters Clear and uses the system for residency verification. The school flagged this woman even though she lives in the district.

Tell me again how license plate readers will only be used for serious crimes.
