There’s probably not even an oncall rotation for marketplace

This is why I support the concept of firearm permits, waiting periods, red flag laws, etc. Keep *all* guns away from crazy people who are buying on a whim.

I would *generally* agree with this statement. On the other hand I was at a training event a couple years ago next to a guy shooting a bolt action .22 that was from the 1910s. He put 20 shots on target in 30 seconds. All guns are capable of that.

Another straw man and ad hominem attack against an entire group of people.

One of these days you’ll realize you’re in the real world and need the support of the people who are most affected by the regulation you’re proposing, and the best way to do that is make sure it’s focused and effective.

Nice slippery slope straw man combo you got there. Wanna add any more fallacies or are you just gonna go ad hominem too for the regular trifecta?

Except making them angry at all gun laws, which decreases the likelihood of having the very people who understand guns on your side.

It’s not like someone planning a mass casualty event is gonna go “oh no I can’t buy a folding stock anymore I guess I’ll just sit this one out.”

Yeah I still don’t get where you’re coming from. “These are useless features that bad actors like for no real reason we should ban them to save lives.” No, we should require enhanced screening, training, and regulate ammunition sales and magazine capacity. Those have measurable results.

How does a folding stock, a pistol grip, or a shroud make something better for mass murder? They’re not going to make someone shoot better or faster: the opposite in fact.

It’s the focus on things like this that detract from things that *do* matter.

The federal AWB is different from
what I’m talking about. That said, your list of things, minus the mag capacity, is pretty silly. They’re mostly convenience items with zero practical utility when actually shooting.

…or whatever other rifle.

Fully automatic weapons are already functionally banned. The AR-15 just gets extra scrutiny over other semi-autos because it’s *popular* and there are more scary modifications built for it. Ban the AR-15 and you’ll have the same problem with the Mini-14 in a couple years.

I’m going to expand on this: an AR-15 at its core is just a semiautomatic rifle with a detachable magazine. There are hundreds of rifles that are functionally identical but don’t get touched by assault legislation because they don’t have a “pistol grip” or whatever.

Yeah but then you get dragged into the conversation of what an assault weapon is, which people who don’t know guns are bad at. Then you get comically bad legislation as a result.

You write like a toddler on cocaine and don’t even know what gaslighting is.

Asking people to have a passport and willing to jump through paperwork to vote will disenfranchise hundreds of millions of Americans. Mostly lower income earners with poor reading comprehension or tolerance for bureaucracy.

I don’t think the SAVE act will work the way they think it will.

what’s it like having a myopic sports-team like view of politics where you always have to make it about the team you don’t like instead of letting the actual issue stand on its own?

It’s worth mentioning that some of the first modern gun control laws in the US came as a direct result of the Black Panthers. Keeping people safe? No. Keeping guns out of the hands of people you don’t like? Yes.

Alysa Liu is someone I’ve been thinking of a lot. She’s the same age as my oldest (5 days older technically), came from the same area, and carries the exact same energy.

She represents the best of CA Gen Z culture: caring, kind, and focused on joy instead of achievement.

Always focused on being right in the short term instead of long term planning.

Just like always.

Globalization comes with a responsibility to uplift the globe and ensure certain moral imperatives are held, otherwise it is just global exploitation.

To use anime references, this ending is more satisfying… 1/2

That’s fine too even! Just don’t wrap characters so tightly at the end that they don’t leave the audience with any agency to imagine “what’s next?” Black frame is superior to happily ever after, but better still is “our story is done, they might have another one but we won’t be telling it.”

Enterprise deserves a rewatch if you haven’t watched it since it was new. It’s a lot of fun.

All Trek is good Trek. Haters just fear change.

Once I started deciding to be excited when media plays fast and loose with canon I found it all more enjoyable.
