It's too exhausting to have to carry around my Parent and/or Partner masks all damn day long. I need unmasking time. And I cannot

I haven't had time to recharge since my first kid was born- I MEAN, since November 17, but seriously, I'm chewing on the walls at this point. The last reserves of my Gracious Parent/Partner/Employee self are so far away even the Hubble couldn't find them. I NEED TO BE ALONE AND I CAN'T

How as a desperate ND parent do I cope?

In the past 18 days I've had 9 hours alone. Total. Kids sick, Spouse sick, weekend, spouse still sick the next week. Last Fri I had 5 hours alone TO WORK.
Weekend.
Mon: kid 2 sick. Tues: kid 2 AND spouse sick. Weds: 4hrs alone TO WORK. Today: kid 1 is sick.

Estimating future heat-related and cold-related mortality under climate change, demographic and adaptation scenarios in 854 European cities - Nature Medicine Modeled analyses of 854 European cities show that net temperature-related mortality will increase because of an increase in heat-related mortality exceeding future reductions in cold-related mortality...

Will climate change *save* lives overall in Europe due to reducing cold deaths?

Per this recent research, nope, an increase in heat deaths will outpace the decrease in cold deaths - at least if Europe doesn’t make substantial changes to mitigate heat:

The Emperor listened to his ministers as they told him why each of the books on their long list needed to be banned.

"Gentlemen, your explanations are a good start."

"So you will ban these books?"

"Not at all! If these books are problematic, we must provide context to help them be understood."

"There are protests, your majesty."

"Good," said the Emperor. "What are they protesting?"

"Grain prices. But why are protests good?"

"What would you call a society with no protests?"

"Happy, your majesty."

"I would call it oppressed. Prepare a report on their grievances."

Digital drawing of whimsically curly green ferns and small white flowers with spiky petals and bright green centers. There is a small red ladybug climbing on one of the fern spirals. The background is purple at the bottom, transitioning to green at the top.

In case you can't tell what just happened, JK Rowling instructed her followers to take photos of anyone in a women's restroom who doesn't match their idea of Western feminine beauty standards. Short hair? Thick cheekbones/jaw? Too tall or broad-shouldered? You're now "a man" and will be harassed.

"why are millennials so left leaning compared to every other generation" idk dude maybe it's because every single formative event in our lives has been a disaster directly caused by capitalism and american imperialism but nah it's probably the computer games

yep! also not sure they *can* be taught to know if they’re right.

likewise i think the pathological “yes, and”-ing may be built in at a pretty deep architectural level. like if your whole deal is to traverse a statistical space of text there aren’t many forks in the corpus that end in “i dont know”

I think it’s notable that ICE isn’t conducting raids in red states, but is instead targeting deep blue states with big migrant communities that will fight back.

They want violence to justify more violence. This is fascism 101.

We should laugh at them and treat them like the cowards they are.

Opinion | Here are the people Trump doesn’t want to exist Women, people of color and those in the LGBTQ+ community are main targets.

When Trump encounters a demographic he doesn’t care for, he “disappears” them–in many cases, the very record of their existence.
Meet America’s new “missing persons," and the govt campaign to delete statistical evidence of anyone who doesn't fit Trump’s idea of our new golden age.

I keep getting asked if it’s legal to spend our campaign funds on food drives or our high school public service grants and the answer is YES. It is.

Politicians and Democratic organizations need to use their coffers to help people NOW and fill in the gaps that Trump has created.

Remember when she funded an anti trans bill, then when it passed, posted a picture of herself with wine and cigars and bragged ‘I love it when a plan comes together?’

That is literally where that money for these games go.

Buying her trash, funds anti LGBTQ+ laws.

The truth is, biking is dangerous to pretty much all of our most oppressive political systems. So to suppress it, we make biking artificially dangerous to riders — we don't build the bike paths, we spread lies about how much they'll cost us, we stigmatize this basic, democratic form of movement.

Seniors Are More Conservative Because the Poor Die Off Sometimes older voters aren’t just naturally more conservative. It’s just that wealthier and whiter people tend to live longer and healthier lives.

Hey, just a quiet reminder: it’s not true that people get more conservative as they age. *Populations* get more conservative as they age because poor and marginalized people die sooner.

Repeat after me: these budget cuts are theft. Our elected officials are stealing from us. They work for us, and they are breaking what we hired them to protect.

Myth busted: German does not have a word for everything! They use the same word for by & until, and Decke means both ceiling & blanket. And plenty of others.

I'm not saying English is perfect! Like, German has two versions of the word "already," depending if it's surprising or not.

Just sayin tho
