You seem to think that consumer demand can make manufacturers move to ‘sustainable’ palm oil - why don’t you think consumer demand can make manufacturers move to no palm oil?

What a narrow-visioned, defeatist opinion piece. But I see you prefer a stand alone ‘solution’ that is economically driven & allows for ‘business as usual’, while igniting other solutions that might have intersecting benefits, and impact the business of depleting our world for profit.

My photo of a fox staring into the camera.

Fox has always been my spirit animal. I've been connected to them since childhood. This is Loki - a fox who I befriended years ago. I still miss him 🦊

Let's light this place up with the wonders of nature. Please share any nature shot or the animal you feel connected with.

Eating less sugar would be great for the planet as well as our health By phasing out sugar, we could spare land that could be rewilded and stock up on carbon. Sugar could also be used to produce biofuels and bioplastics.

Sweet sorrow...

Glad to hear you say people should reduce their consumption of palm oil. Great article about how soy plantations are as environmentally devastating as palm oil.As soy is primarily used by animal agriculture,I presume you also advocate for a plant-based food transition?

I am delighted to announce that I am now celebrating 44 years as a vegan.

It has been an honour to spend those years dedicated to fighting for all our non-human animal friends, and to have them recognised as fully aware, sentient beings.

I will never give up that struggle.

The Biden administration is committing an additional $306 million toward battling H5N1 bird flu, and will distribute the money before President-elect Donald J. Trump takes office, according to the New York Times.

French scientists studying H5N1 bird flu prevalence in cats found 13 out of 578 blood samples positive.

"Potentially, it amounts to thousands or tens of thousands of cats that could have been infected in France."

Chickens endure unimaginable suffering, making them some of the most abused animals on Earth. Even under "free-range" standards, many live crammed together with just 2 square feet of outdoor space—denied the ability to roam, forage, or experience anything resembling a natural life.

We’ve been out with the seed & bashed a hole in the pond.😊

Crazily, the hedgehogs are still coming to the feeding station!🦔

I’m wondering if the cold snap might finally lead them to hibernate!

Interesting question.

Why would anyone try to persuade me to buy stuff I don’t need, from companies that have produced that stuff by plundering the planet?

My philosophy exactly too!!
If the whole world lived by this ethical and compassionate code, just imagine what a perfect place this planet would be.

A screenshot from a video podcast titled "Back to the People." The text says: "Fishermen in MAine are worried about the impact of wind farms and believe they're being unjustly blamed. Seismic surveying, which uses powerful sound waves to map the ocean floor, can cause temporary or permanent hearing loss in marine mammals, including whales" Below the text, there’s a still image of two fishermen sitting outdoors near fishing nets and buoys. One man, wearing a navy blue shirt, is speaking, while the other, in a plaid shirt and cap, looks down thoughtfully. A purple border frames the image with the podcast's logo, "Back to the People Podcast," displayed in white text.

Yes, lets discuss animal welfare with people who make their living by killing and mass torture of marine life. The best and obvious way to protect marine environments is to #govegan #animalrights
