We love hearing about the ways researchers use #NACCdata!
Check out this @biotechniques.bsky.social interview with @c3llas.bsky.social to hear more about his research and hopes for the future of #Alzheimers research.

In this interview with @c3llas.bsky.social, a neuroepidemiologist and postdoctoral researcher at @stanfordmedicine.bsky.social, we explored the link between vascular health and neurodegeneration, particularly in underrepresented populations >>> www.biotechniques.com/podcasts/bhm... 🧪
🎉Congratulations to #HESP Scholar, Dr. Cellas Hayes, @c3llas.bsky.social! We're thrilled to celebrate his newly published article: "Examining APOE ε4 and Longitudinal Vascular Brain Injury: The Strong Heart Study."

Thank you, @coryjwhite.bsky.social for an engaging #research talk! We are delighted to welcome another NEUROYES speaker, Dr. Cellas Ari’ka Hayes, on 4/10/25! @c3llas.bsky.social @drnathanasmith.bsky.social #URochesterResearch @urneuroscience.bsky.social @uor-braincogsci.bsky.social #neuroskyence
Thank you! I’m glad you find this work important.
A huge thank you to my amazing co-authors Christina B. Young, Carla Abdelnour, Alexis Reeves, Michelle C. Odden, Jeffrey Nirschl, Paul K. Crane, Kathleen L. Poston, Elizabeth C. Mormino, and Kyan Younes for their invaluable contributions!
Key Takeaways:
1) Vascular contributions to neurodegeneration need more attention
2) Treating small vessel disease could delay or prevent cognitive decline
3) We need a holistic approach beyond amyloid & tau when thinking about dementia risk
Why does this matter?
Most dementia research focuses on Alzheimer’s pathology, but vascular disease independently contributes to cognitive impairment. This work highlights the heterogeneity of dementia-related pathologies and the importance of vascular health in dementia prevention.
Key Findings:
1) Arteriolosclerosis (small vessel disease) is associated with worse memory, executive function, and language performance in decedents without severe dementia.
2)These effects persist even after adjusting for Alzheimer’s pathology (Aβ/tau) and Lewy body disease.
My first Alzheimer’s disease-related publication is now online in Alzheimer’s & Dementia! "The impact of arteriolosclerosis on cognitive impairment in decedents without severe dementia" doi.org/10.1002/alz....
💥Congratulations to HABS-HD #HESP Scholar alumna, Dr. Alexandra Clark, for receiving an Association for Psychological Science (APS) Rising Star designation! This designation recognizes outstanding APS early career faculty for innovative research and contributions. #CelebratingExcellence
So looking forward to sharing my past and ongoing research and how that builds into me establishing a multidisciplinary laboratory!

In less than a month I'll be giving a talk in @ucm.es where I did my Master's and had one of my first full research experiences. I look forward to presenting my work to you all. Please join us if you are in the area!
Screaming: “Somebody. Anybody, Everybody. I’m here 👋🏽 “ 🤣
My therapist reminded me to pause & celebrate my accomplishments instead of rushing to the next goal. 2024 has been rough, but I can proudly say I’ve conquered it both personally and professionally. Here's to growth, persistence, and healing! I encourage everyone to reflect & celebrate!
Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
Same! 🤦🏽♂️😔
Research supported by NIH has led more than 100 Nobel Prizes and has supported more than 99% of drugs approved by federal regulators from 2010 to 2019.
But come January, NIH may face a wrecking ball
