Guest House by Rumi, I believe translated by Coleman Banks. There’s a great recording of him on Coldplay’s “Kaleidoscope” that I recommend.
Loss is just so weird. Haven’t seen an old friend in 16 years, and learned he passed today.
When we were young, I remember feeling that — beside him — I could be more. Not more in any quantifiable metric we define a thing. But a permission to be more. I enjoyed it.
Thinking of him as I read this.

A dresser inside a museum in New York City has been discovered as a secret stop on the Underground Railroad — the first of its kind discovered in Manhattan in over 100 years
Sharing this quite late as I was off work for the past two months, but here's a recap of an important discussion I took part in at MozFest back in November: www.techpolicy.press/how-civil-so...
I miss the age of fan films. I used to spend time on TheForce.net where every year there would be some kind of competition for Star Wars fan films -- and I loved watching them. They seem kind of cringe, now, but I remember always wanting to make one.
Happy 10 year anniversary

Demand Massachusetts lawmakers pass urgent reforms to rein in ICE.
Our lawmakers have a responsibility to do everything in their power to rein in ICE. The abuses won't stop without our collective action. Silence is complicity.

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.
I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.
But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.
Algorithms optimize for people’s appetite for that content. Even obvious fakes get shared because the trope gratifies bias. “AI” labels just give a “just joking” shield while the engagement racks up. And that’s for those who even notice.
Saying there’s “no demand” for fake EBT clips ignores centuries of profitable anti-Black caricature. The audience isn’t duped… they’re served.

Yeah on this I agree. It’s found its way into language.
What did the person you’re replying to, say? They blocked me.
I do think it is very American to qualify what kind of American you are. You’re right to point that out.
Not exclusive to Indians of course but as I am an ABCD I felt okay pointing that out
I don’t know if this is universally true but it is interesting that we say “Indian Americans” and also “British Indians.” Why is the order flipped?
