Note; this is NOT a security vulnerability on Signal’s part. It IS a case of message security being part of a chain, and can be compromised by any weak link in the chain.

In this case: the message has to be decrypted for you to see it. Passing the message through notifications is a weak point.

Mitigation for this: go into Settings -> Notifications -> Notification content, and limit what is passed through messages. Your options are show everything, show name only, or show only that you have a new message. The latter option being the most secure one.

All of you using Signal may want to pay attention to how your notifications are being delivered.

The FBI - targeting alleged “antifa members” - were able to extract signal message content using the notification system in iOS. They pulled the messages from cached notifications at the OS level.

I Decompiled the White House's New App The official White House Android app has a cookie/paywall bypass injector, tracks your GPS every 4.5 minutes, and loads JavaScript from some guy's GitHub Pages.

So, I don’t know who would have the current White House app installed on their phones or why. But if you do, or know of anyone who does, you should remove it immediately. It’s malware.
