There is no good reason for a doorbell to ring in the middle of the night. Not one.
The very best case scenario is a wireless one telling you it's done recharging. And even that's a crap one that still scares the bejeezus out of you.

I started rewatching over Xmas - it actually holds up really well all the way up to about s5, when suddenly everything happens at a ridiculously accelerated pace and certain characters acquire a conspicuous layer of plot armour.
