Two new flails; one shiny, one matte.

Settling into a style in pottery has been difficult. I get so excited and want to try everything but working with these effects glazes and bright colors has felt the most 'me' so far. My wood fired work is an entirely different style but as far as the electric kiln goes, silly neon slime it is.
Some fun spikey pieces from the most recent wood fire, including a second flail!
Final update on my ceramic flail journey:
Almost ready for the first firing. Everybody plz pray to the kiln gods that it survives π€
Also, made some progress on this guy this week
The final glazed product!
More hand building! A spikey candle holder and the beginnings of making a mace out of clay I guess? We'll see if it survivesπ€
Update:
Nicholas can have a little hand building (as a treat)
Trying out some new weaving techniques!
I also took a loom class last week and learned how to weave! I even got to build the loom myself!
More balaclavas for friends βΊοΈ
I think overall, I was happier with my results from the last woodfire but this round was way more of a learning experience, especially when it comes to new glazes. I think the next one will be the best yet!
I love wood firing because it's so unpredictable! I glazed two pieces in this red-ish glaze and put one in the wood chamber and one in the salt. They both look nothing like the test tiles! I still think they're both cool pieces but I love that woodfiring is so wiley and different every time.
Some of my favorite test tiles of the glazes I used for this fire. Wood firing is so unpredictable that all of my pots will probably look way different from these but that's half the fun!
Spent last night stoking the wood kiln in the snow and ice. I love pottery sm π
Ok another balaclava update
I finished throwing a big batch of pottery for a wood fire and I made some cool stuff with new techniques that I'm really proud of and I'm very excited to see how they fire :)
Not the heel click π€£ I love this giant strawberry π
All the balaclavas I've made so far have used a lot of colors in pretty random combinations. This was the first one I've done with a more intentional pattern and color story which has been really fun.
I met this person that does alterations for queer people and they tailored a shirt for me in exchange for a tray of stuffed shells. Since then, they've altered like 15 things for me/my gf and every time I pay them in Italian food. I love it and wish I could trade skills with people more.
I love collecting vintage cookbooks
Working towards my fourth balaclava! I love crocheting for my friends π
I also want to use this account as place to document my progress on fiber crafts and ceramics
One thing I grew to dislike about IG was how much brands/influencers clogged up my feed. I like the old IG where it was just pictures of my friends pets and events they're putting on and like a cool sandwich, so that's mostly what I'm going to use this account as.
