Lately when I’m lying in bed waiting for my brain to slow down to a slumber, I experience a few minutes of looping parts of the song from Nutty Professor II. Curious.

Why does he sit like this??

I love what happens when we get to slow down and really unpack a health issue or goal. The magic when someone feels listened to and encouraged. Watching gears turn and aha moments happen in real time. Breaking the complex down into simple bite-sized pieces that finally make some kind of sense.

It’s sad to me that patients and providers don’t get to connect like this all the time, but also so exciting that I get to run my practice in a way that’s so mutually affirming and fulfilling. Every day I’m kinda like “Wow this is so cool- is this really what I get to do??”

Reflecting on a great week of patient care and connection, and how telling it is of the HC system when a patient leaves their one hour appt apologizing for “rambling.” I said “Sir, I will match your ramble. And I love knowing that your cat misses nap time in the recliner bc you’re sleeping better!”
