Together, we fought for our communities, our families, and real solutions to the housing crisis.
Over the past 2 months, thousands of people across the country told HUD to #KeepFamiliesTogether and shut down Trump's senseless proposal to kick immigrant families out of their homes!

Trumpâs proposal to kick over 20,000 immigrant families out of HUD housing is part of the administrationâs campaign to scapegoat our neighbors for the housing crisis. We need HUD to focus on real solutions that work for us all instead of sowing fear and division.
Tomorrow is our last day to speak out against Trump's proposal to kick immigrant families out of HUD housing. Take action at keep-families-together.org to:
đď¸ Protect 80,000 immigrants' homes
đŠâđ§ Keep families together
đDefend our federal housing programs
We still have a week left to stop Trumpâs HUD from separating immigrant families. The best way you can take action is to join the 4,300 people who are out here making their voices heard by submitting a comment to HUD by April 21 âĄď¸ keep-families-together.org.
Trumpâs HUD is trying to kick 20,000 immigrant families out of their housing.
Josefinaâs is one of them. After living in Los Angeles for eighteen years, HUD may now force them to make an impossible choice.
We have one more week to take action. Join us at keep-families-together.org
Square graphic featuring a photo of Clarence Mitchell Jr. and President Johnson upon the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1968. Quote from HISTORY.com reads: âA major force behind passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 was the NAACPâs Washington director, Clarence Mitchell Jr. His organizing proved so effective in pushing through legislation that he was referred to as the â101st senator.ââ Additional text reads: âStep by step, weâre building a multiracial democracy, where everyone has the freedom to live free from discrimination.â Banner on bottom reads âFair Housing Monthâ and shows the logo of the National Housing Law Project.
This month marks 58 years since the passage of the Fair Housing Act: the long-fought for promise that our government will protect our freedom to live in a safe and stable home, no matter what we look like, where we come from, or who we love.
Graphic has dark blue border on white background. Bloomberg Lawâs logo is at the top middle. The NHLP logo sits at the bottom. The title of the article and author name are below: âUS Citizen Kids at Risk of Losing Housing Support Under HUD Plan by Andrew Kreighbaum.â Text reads: âThe housing agencyâs proposal, though, acknowledges that almost half of the people expected to lose benefits are children of immigrants, nearly all of them born in the US. It would force about 20,000 families to consider separating or leaving public housing with few alternatives available, advocates say. âThe administration might argue they can stay in public housing if that family member leaves,â said Marie Claire Tran-Leung, a senior staff attorney at the National Housing Law Project. âThatâs not realisticâespecially if the people with status are children.ââ
If Trumpâs HUD proposal passes, thousands of families would be forced to separate - or leave their homes altogether. NHLPâs Senior Attorney Marie Claire Tran-Leung spoke with @bloomberglaw.com about the impact this will have on immigrant families and citizen children.

Our voices are powerful - over the past month, over 2,100 people just like you have already spoken out over at keep-families-together.org.
Hereâs what they had to say:
Trumpâs budget is a slash-and-burn attack on the programs that keep us housed, fed, and healthy - but itâs all talk and no action on any real affordability solutions. Congress, we urge you to do your part and fight for a budget that delivers for poor and working families.

Trumpâs HUD proposal will harm all of us, including U.S. citizens, who make up 96% of people who receive HUD assistance.

Graphic has dark blue border on white background. Newsweekâs logo is at the top middle. The NHLP logo sits at the bottom. The title of the article and author name are below: âMillions of Americans at Risk From Eviction Rule Change by Hugh Cameron.â Text reads: âA significant number of low-income renters in the U.S. could soon face faster evictions following a federal housing change that will shorten the period of protection for tenants at risk. But tenant rights advocates are now suing HUD over the change, arguing that its enforcementâonly 30 days after the announcementâbypasses the required public comment period. Hannah Adams, senior staff attorney for the National Housing Law Project, said: âWeâre fighting back to ensure we have enough time to provide input on a rule that will affect nearly 4 million poor and working people.ââ
