Last year I got diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I needed to start testing my blood multiple times each day, starting the 7th August 2025. Now, today, the 21st April 2026, with ongoing treatment and a change in medication?

I can stop stabbing my fingers! 😁

A very strange movie I enjoyed quite a lot 😁

It seems like liminal space horror is going to be "in" this year. I expect Backrooms will go bigger, but Exit 8 has its charms. Worth catching if strange is your speed.

I caught 2:22 A Ghost Story at the Liverpool Empire Theatre, and had a lot of fun! It's definitely worth catching on stage if you can, if you can't there's probably an inevitable screen adaptation in its future 👻

A gloriously bonkers movie that hides just how demented it is. Trust me, the trailers undersell this. If violent chaos is your thing? Highly recommended!

A show that warns you up front 😛

I felt it dipped after a mid point twist worked something like a false climax, stealing all momentum. But it picks back up again for an impressive finale!

Well worth watching. Unless you're squeamish about blood, anyway...

I'm finally getting around to finishing Cobra Kai, 2 episodes left.

It is an incredibly dumb show... And I kind of love it 🤣

I was writing a scene this week and I was hitting character beats I wanted, but it just wasn't feeling like enough... A little extra peril is going to be needed! Not much is fundamentally changing, but if I pressure my characters more choices they make mean more.
Can't have things going too well 😜

On my way home now, but Tenerife was interesting! I definitely want to come back for a proper break 😊

It seems yesterday when I went for a walk I managed to just miss the city centre of Adeje, which is impressive and quite typical for me 😛

Now to work out getting to San Eugenio...

Which is almost a problem... Because it's hardly being shown anywhere!

Cold Storage is pretty damn good! A solid idea, probably helped by being a novel that was adapted into a screenplay by its author, that's a really fun watch I would absolutely recommend for a trip to the cinema.

I leave the office at 4, I swing by the big stores in L1, I head through the pretty awesome Bold Street then China Town, before ending up at the Red Brick Market for some cool bits and pieces 😁

My mum passed away some point between Friday and Saturday evening.

She was found by a neighbour and friend who was worried about her.

I went to Ormskirk to deal with the police and undertakers Saturday, but went home to Liverpool Saturday night.

Had a diabetes related eye screening today, and the stinging eye drops used on me have really done a number on my vision . Everything appears foggy, and streetlights have rainbow coronas. I think my eyes might have The Gay now 🌈

It's the kind of intimate surreal nightmare you don't get all that often on the big screen.

Contains themes of abuse and suicide, so steer clear if those topics are raw to you. It handles them in ways well worth watching for everyone else.

It's very different.

Same as with the first movie, it hits some beats and adds completely new plot threads.

I would happily argue it's not as good as the game. It just doesn't come close to the impact the game version manages.

BUT.

I've walked an hour to the cinema and used some rewards points to come see Return To Silent Hill now.

On a rewatch of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, since it's just sat there on Netflix. The first few episodes are a little awkward, for some weird reasons, but then it kicks into high gear before never letting up. Highly recommended!

I'm going to write SO MUCH WEIRD STUFF, and hopefully some projects rattle their way out of production limbo along the way.
