I think if they were to have peacekeeping operations, USS Hammarsköjld would be a good name for a peacekeeping ship. Sweden's Dag Hammarsköjld was the UN secretary general & presided over the creation of the first UN peacekeeping forces.

My hot take is that outside of deep space exploration they would be more trouble than they are worth. To my mind, any ship with transporter technology could very easily fill their tank doing a couple orbits around a gas giant.

Lol, savagely accurate

Truly, the stupidest timeline.

Cover to Galaxy 666 by Pel Torro. It features a spaceship that is clearly a slightly modified USS Enterprise from the original start trek. The main bridge is replaced by a red sphere. There is a crossbeam connecting the two nacelles. The title of the book is just above the ship in yellow lettering.

Knock-off Enterprise on the cover of Galaxy 666 by Pel Torro. Tower Books, 1968... Evidently not concerned about Desilu's lawyers

Something about a Ghostbuster holding what appears to be a normal handgun is very funny to me.

Lol, I know it must have been tough to write a little self-contained story that fits on the back of a card, but that last bit about igniting their fuel seems like it was something they did just for the hell of it after they got to orbit.

I scaled the saucer rim to Voyager's (seemed reasonable) and came up with a length of 217m

new Federation starbase and repair ship - Star Trek: Armada Files ...

Here's the files though, if anyone else wants to take a go. [3/?]

The files imported into TinkerCAD wth some parts missing. So the bridge mainly & bussard collectors so I kinda just threw some shapes in. [2/?]

Thanks to @jnoodles24.bsky.social for the link to Aad Moerman's model of the Starfleet repair tug from Armada II. I only deal in TinkerCAD as far as 3D so there's a few caveats here [1/?]

i think we have to ask ourselves what exactly toronto benefits from having a bunch of driverless cars roaming on our already-congested streets.

as if single occupancy cars were not enough of an issue, let's throw zero occupancy cars that regularly block transit and emergency services into the mix

- depending on when you set it in the timeline, you could be as vague as you want about how things have been left in the Milky Way.
- you could have an expansive cast of characters, many at different locations. Scout ships, etc. Kind of like Game of Thrones.

Yah for sure. A few things I like about this sort of premise:

- you could have all the old alien races represented on the vessel (if you want) but it should sort of shunt them to the side as far as the stories go. Let the *new* races, etc the ship encounters do that

Yah i noticed that. I like how visually, the hangar bays connect up to that section. Sort of implies the direction one would/could travel in the ship upon arrival.

The inner ring could be an enormous habitat housing hundreds of thousands of people, both Starfleet & civilian. The central sphere would be the command center.

The segmented saucer thing rubbed a lot of people the wrong way (which, tbh, who cares) but I think it is a little more intuitively justifiable for an enormous ship. The outer ring could be a Spacedock-esque hangar for scout ships, which at the size were talking could be typical Starfleet vessels.

I came up with it when Monday morning quarterbacking Discovery back when it premiered and I was a bit let down by new Trek being yet another prequel series. But the (apparently) divisive design for Discovery herself I think would have worked quite well scaled up to Enterprise J-ish proportions...

I like this idea and have toyed with a similar one myself...

"If you were in charge of Star Trek, what would you do?"

Set the show on a massive inter-galactic exploration vessel that has already been outside the Milky Way and out of touch with Starfleet for years when the show starts. Sort pack up the lore and background it in favour of new encounters.

I was actually surprised that I couldn't load a TTC day pass onto my Presto card and had access that fare via a ticket. What is the barrier there?!

Yeah I think that would be cool for the "Ten Forward" of the ship. Though I dunno maybe synth-ale and a moving visual on the floor don't mix.

Oh i think that was definitely the deflector array, judging by the blue glow.

Yep for sure. Spheres are tricky for details like this, but I appreciate the detail even if the functionality is ambiguous.

The bottom of the spherical primary hull of the USS Pasteur from Star Trek TNG.

Admittedly, a pretty shallow bay given the location at the bottom of the sphere, but pretty plausible there could be lifts up to interior cargo holds.
