It's not the end of the world as they weren't my biggest earner. But it'd be nice to know what's going on either way.

Other people seem to be getting responses, so I guess mine might be in the "oh no, this one is complicated" bin. It'd be ridiculous to lose my account and pending sales money because of bad timing.

They could also add more payment options if they're that desperate for my $12.

I still haven't heard back from Draft2Digital. My fee date is May, so I didn't have enough notice to hold back the money in my balance. I have enough pending sales to cover it, but they probably won't clear until after the payment date. I have no credit card.

I generally leave it up to list makers whether to include me. I'm of English Romany/Romanichal descent but don't have community connections. My family haven't travelled since my great grandparents. So, it's complicated.

Fun with fungi today! I got a mix of mushroom species for texture photos. Then I ate some of them, froze a whole bunch for later, and set aside some for the animals. Nothing going to waste.

A new day and I've updated my website to remove all D2D and Books2Read links. I've started removing the D2D Kobo listings so I can go direct there. That's all I can do today, so onwards to other projects. I need to photograph mushrooms and renew my passport.

I have a charity event coming up and need to prepare for that over the next few days. I'm also waiting on a D2D support ticket reply.

Amazon and itchio are the best places to buy my books until I get this sorted.

I'm not sure at the moment what'll happen with my D2D account. I put in a support ticket as my fee date is May, I didn't know in time to stop them paying me, and I don't own a credit card.

Either way, I'll be going direct with Kobo after this.

I realised with the Werecockroach sequel that as it was set in 2016, it was actually historical fiction. I needed to look up what terms and stuff people used then to keep it consistent (with some wiggle room for being a different timeline).

There have been a few brighter moments, like selling a story to Clarkesworld and a new Fungi translation. Everything else has been unrelentingly difficult. It'll hopefully even out in a few years as I finish new books, but I really could have done without surprise fees.

Stuck generally describes how writing has been since I got ill. A few years of not being able to work meant sales went down. Payment thresholds went up ($20 for D2D). Other places are very slow to pay (itchio). I'm writing again, but I'm still behind, and the money stress slows me down even more.

I'm someone who'll get charged the new Draft2Digital fees. I earnt about $90 in the last year and the charge is too soon to earn the rest. But it's also the only way to get into a lot of those markets/libraries, so I'm stuck with them.

I don't know about non-speculative literary, though on the spec side, there's a lot less general reader interest. The books are there but rarely discussed. I'm sure I've missed a lot of stuff I'd really like as a result.

I have a meat intolerance and some people struggle with that one. I'll end up with chicken for every meal unless I say I'm vegetarian.

My reading speed seems to have suddenly returned to what it was before. I don't set reading goals, but I'm actually finishing books.

You're never going to get a simple list of bullet points because it's not that tidy. But be cautious about stuff like you originally stated. You’re veering into things that aren't used to separate categories when you try to rate plot complexity and whether you understand the feelings.

I've been vaccinated, so taking it easy today. I bought a silly bird toy in a charity shop on the way.

The sad thing with the shampoo is it smells just the same. It's the same ingredients list as the regular one. Just a different bottle.

You know shampoo for men, where it constantly reinforces how much for MANLY MEN it is, take CONTROL with the POWER (also with soothing Aloe vera), and lots of iron grey block capitals with sharp corners, so men feel reassured it's okay to use it. That's what I expect mantasy books to look like.
