Hey, look at Substack promoting Andrew Tate as the #1 new bestseller. The company's amoral leadership & backers will platform anyone, even ludicrously toxic rapists & human traffickers.

Also reported as six years this evening - which would be not quite as good! They just have more upside than the 20% built in if that’s the case.

KDO is 28 years old today. "Older than Google. Older than The Matrix. Older than Christopher Nolan's feature film career. Older than Elle Fanning. Older than Kurt Cobain when he died. It might outlast American democracy." [kottke.org]

@simonwillison.net et al's thinking about Resonant Computing (resonantcomputing.org) was a heavy influence on my thinking. I built Resonant Computing Principles into my Claude.md file: github.com/djacobs/Pinw... (See the first section - "Prior Art & Philosophy").

Opinion | The A.I. Disruption Has Arrived, and It Sure Is Fun We’re entering a new renaissance of software development. We should all be excited, despite the uncertainties that lie ahead.

Paul Ford on AI and the Infinite Software Era. “All of the people I love hate this stuff, and all the people I hate love it. And yet, likely because of the same personality flaws that drew me to technology in the first place, I am annoyingly excited.” [nytimes.com]

In the U.S., we currently have the existing brutality of the carceral system, cultural acceptance of disparate treatment for people of color, forced Native American exile to reservations, the long echoes Japanese American internment during World War Il, the continuing operation of places like Guantanamo, and the willingness of both major political parties to use a detention-based punitive approach to immigration. These are the domestic weaknesses that helped to make the country susceptible to becoming a concentration camp regime.

How Fast Should Your 12-Year-Old Throw?

This is my favorite thing I wrote all year. My first story in the New York Times. But it was already my favorite before it ever published, for a couple reasons and if you’ll indulge me…

This is one of three major Federal actions against healthcare for trans people this week. While the two bills passed by the House are not expected to pass the Senate, all three of these actions are heartbreaking to see. Both House bills would have failed if the Democratic caucus had held together.

6 years ago, a federal ban on gender-affirming care for young people was absent from the national Dem agenda, seemed unlikely to almost everyone who isn’t trans. 6 years ago, Marjorie Taylor Greene was a QAnon crank with a crossfit gym. Yesterday her ban passed out of the House with three Dem votes.
