Even though during World War II African Americans weren’t allowed to be Rosies, she was widely considered a Rosie in more recent years. Betty wowed me at one of my annual senior conferences and during a visit to the museum with a busload of high school girls.
Betty Reid Soskin lived a long and consequential life. The country’s oldest serving National Park Service ranger passed away yesterday, on the Winter Solstice, at age 104. Betty had worked at the Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Park Museum in Richmond for more than a decade.

Huge turnout at today’s Career Fair with 1,500 attendees who were looking for jobs with purpose. As an elected official for over 40 years, I believe public service is the highest calling and hope job seekers will find a home in the county workforce.
Smokey Bear and Captain Cal were today’s VIPs at San Mateo County’s wildfire prevention event
