I reckon Dogtown is the closest Cyperpunk 2077 gets to feeling like Gibson's cyberpunk and post-cyberpunk work
Fuck it, rereading the Sprawl trilogy
reckon this line of thinking has been sparked by NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE which does an eerily brilliant job of replicating the banal specificities of 2008 pop culture through a time-travel lens (and of course mining all of that for jokes). Movie rocks btw.
occasionally I'll come across someone on a weird corner of youtube that feels I'm peeking through a time-portal to 2009 and it's incredibly uncanny and haunted every time. Internet gothic.
you know sometimes I find myself feeling like decades don't seem to mean anything anymore and time is flattening, but then I remember just how distinct the internet of the mid-'00s felt, even the internet of the early-'10s when compared to today's glossy disasterscape, and I get some mental vertigo

Over Descartian vortices you hover.
photobashed almost all of the images in the book using combinations of my own photos and public domain stuff, with some illustration. This is more or less what the Sprawl looked like in my head when I first read Neuromancer
Flesh and Metal's harsh, nasty, fuzzed-out, ruined static aesthetic is definitely me trying to translate my idea of Gibson's Sprawl into a cyberpunk rpg thysane.itch.io/deep-in-a-ma...
thinking again about how a modern reader looking at foundational cyberpunk works brings a lot of baggage with them, and that the Sprawl I see in my head (grey, run-down, now-but-more) is so decoupled from what such a reader might currently associate with cyberpunk aesthetics (neon madness)
listening to the Shelved By Genre episodes on Neuromancer and vibing especially with their chat about "cyberpunk" being almost purely a back-filled marketing label

(Screenshot of Amazon review) Five stars - Verified Purchase Spider dreams guaranteed Got these for a transatlantic flight from Seattle. Took effect about 20 minutes from consumption. I slept for about 4 hours and continued to use them to adjust to the timezone change. Every night I had the same dream about a spider wrapping me in a web very tightly and speaking backwards. It seemed very scared and was furious I could not understand what it was trying to say. 20 years passed in the dream world and eventually the spider and I became close friends and four years later we were married. Understandably our differences were too much and our relationship fell apart from the inside. My infidelity was the last straw and we never recovered from the betrayal. I would always wake up write before we signed the divorce papers. I had this same dream every night for 6 days. Great product. Highly recommend.
The sun is at its peak in Wyoming.

Working on this completely unofficial thing that I can't sell today and it's ballooned into kind of its own quasi-rules document, using Zones and such for combat and lots of custom bullshit. Listening to "Anakin's Dark Deeds" from the REVENGE OF THE SITH soundtrack on repeat. Now I've gotta run it.

would honestly be tempted to mush together things from multiple classes and custom bits to create the three classic Jedi archetypes i.e. Guardian, Sentinel, and Consular, for my players to choose from
this is probably my favourite option right now for a combat-focused Jedi game until something like Wandering Blades comes out with its full release
okay but what if I crudely hacked together a system for running an Old Republic Jedi campaign using the Disciple from The Nightmares Underneath and KOTOR/KOTOR 2's Force power rules (plus custom XP rules, of course)

It’s fucking bizarre how people are acting like something from 2022 is something they can’t live without.
Like dudes, the emotional dependence on a sycophantic machine regurgitating nonsense to encourage you to stop engaging in critical thought and trust the slop is truly depressing to witness.

oh absolutely. I've quickly learned that the rolling systemic chaos is the juice!
we've also had a number of scenes take place at Birmingham's art gallery and museum, with the big statue of Lucifer in its entrance hall as a centrepiece
across 10 sessions so far, events have ranged all across Birmingham's metropolitan area (including a recent vampire slaying at the city health campus), but I'm pleased to report that it's all currently revolving around an evil portal inside the defunct Curzon Street Station building
This chronicle continues to feel like a runaway train in the best possible way, I did like one round of a faction game for myself several weeks ago and the situation's just been rolling ever since, the engine fueling itself.
it uhhh wasn't pretty
