Looking forward to speaking for the Bradford First World War Group tomorrow about Britain's Great War widows. 10.30am at the Mechanics Institute. #ww1 #Bradford

Book cover titled British Widows of the First World War: The Forgotten Legion by Andrea Hetherington. The design shows a muted wartime scene of soldiers at a graveside in a cemetery, with rows of white headstones stretching into the background. A large red poppy appears prominently on the left, contrasting with the grey tones. Decorative black flourishes frame the cover at the top and bottom.
Looking forward to our talk tonight at @fhsofcheshire.bsky.social with @historylass.bsky.social

Poster for the Family History Society of Cheshire titled ‘Events this Week’. A green header displays the Society name and logo. Below are four images showing a mix of activities: an online talk on a laptop screen, an in-person group talk, one-to-one research help in a library, and a guided outdoor heritage walk near a historic church. A small calendar with marked dates suggests multiple events being attended

Four stars from the Guardian today. Showing across the UK from tonight. #TheChoral #WW1
I hope you enjoy it!
Lovely to see the film in front of an audience at #LIFF25 and no better venue than a packed Hyde Park Picturehouse. Beautifully presented on the night and very well received. Proud to see my name on screen. Thanks to everyone involved for a great event. #LIFF25 #TheChoral #WW1
Thanks very much! I'm sure I will.
Looking forward to seeing this in front of an audience for the first time at #LIFF2025 this Friday at the Hyde Park Picture House. Choral performance beforehand too! Lovely project to have worked on. #WW1
Lovely to see you too Jackie! Thanks for the recommendation.
Proud to have worked on this production and looking forward to watching the finished product tonight. #houseofguinness
2/2 Must be 25 cars in the car park, all having driven past and ignored it. This country would instantly be a better place if we all just took some bloody responsibility once in a while. Should be CCTV on this road.#teesside @teesbirds.bsky.social @naturalengland.bsky.social
1/2 Takes a special kind of idiot to dump rubbish on a nature reserve. Just drove up the North Gare road and found it littered with rolls of scrap carpet. As much as I can get in the boot of my already full car has been retrieved but there's more. It'll have to come back to Leeds with me.
Went to an archives conference type thing in Durham today. Met a man from Argentina who is researching the history of the tango. Of course most of our conversation was about Bielsa... #lufc #bielsa
Unbelievable. What a team. What a set of amazing women. So happy for them all. #lionesses #euros
A glimpse of life without the NHS. I have just paid £350 for a videocall with an NHS consultant in London because my local hospital doesn't offer this particular treatment. Bill for me if I go ahead with the treatment itself? £22k. #NHS #postcodelottery
The erratic UK tour continues. Tonight I'm in Stowmarket speaking to the Western Front Association about Britain's First World widows. #ww1 #wfa
🔥 THAT WAS SENSATIONAL!!!
The ease with which this promotion was finally achieved left me numb last night. Given the way LUFC normally do things, I reckon I was in shock. But today, rewatching the celebrations, I must admit I'm a little bit teary...😥 #lufc #mot #alaw
Well that wasn't the afternoon I expected. 6-0? Where was my nail biting 75 mins anticipating an equaliser? It's just not the same...🤣 #lufc
Exactly the motivation for my two #firstworldwar books. I was just looking for information, but suddenly I'd written 90,000 words, twice, because no one else had.
On the road tomorrow to The Buffs Club in Norton, speaking for the Western Front Association about First World War widows. Doors 7.30pm, talk is at 8pm. £5 suggested donation and there's a buffet. Sounds like a bargain.#ww1
On my way to Todmorden to speak to the Antiquarian Society tonight. 7.30pm at Calder College. Lovely day for a train journey! #ww1
So, I suppose I should promote the fact that I now have a website. www.historylass.co.uk
It's taken me a while...
Seeing the sights in Chesterfield last night before my talk for the WFA. Forgot it was Tony Benn's constituency. Wonder what he would think of the last 8 months.🙁
Last night I was out with Switalskis watching the Leeds Knights.Today I was with another Knight, Sir Nicholas Hytner, at the premiere of his new film The Choral. And tomorrow I'm duty solicitor for Normanton Police Station... Just an average weekend.😆
My next talk is on 4th March at Chesterfield Labour Club at 7pm, where you can hear me talk about the criminal lives of home front deserters. Hosts are the WFA but all are welcome. Suggested donation on the door to cover the costs is £3. #WW1 #WFA #deserters
