What a delight it was to hear Peterโs story, we suspect Angels in the Cellar may become something of a classic!
Twenty years ago Peter Hahn had a breakdown while in the back of a London cab. It became urgently clear the only way to stop the downward spiral was to find a path out of corporate lifeโฆ
Join us for a conversation with Peter, talking about his book: Angels in the Cellar

Weโve got the delightful Roger Morgan Grenville in Shaftesbury tonight, taking about his incredible 1,000 mile walk across Britain in search of the hope for nature.

This is the best news!
And it remains one of our most loved cards - especially with the ginger cat!
Welcome! ๐ฟ
Weโve been looking forward to this one for quite some time! ๐๐
Thank you so much!
โฆ like nature conservation and protection, and new and diverse voices in nature writing, all from a tiny shop on Gold Hill, where everyone is welcome. To be recognised for that is a joy.
Huge congratulations to all the other finalists.
Independent Bookshop of the Year Regional & Country Finalist, South-West England
Yesterday we learnt that, for the second consecutive year, weโre regional finalists in the #BritishBookAwards for Best Independent Bookshop!
Being a bookseller is a privilege that affords us the platform to amplify the things we really care about (contโฆ)
Oops, am late sharing this one, power cuts yesterday meant I was mostly offline. My #CountryDiary on being homebound by illness but still dazzled and beguiled by nature #naturewriting www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Yes, Iโve been lots and am heading back again this year. Definitely not an archaeologist but I love wild places. We were once delayed getting off the island by a day, and another time had to leave a day early (boo!) as a storm was coming that would have delayed our departure for quite a bit longer.
Weโve got a few out already in Shaftesbury with tens of thousands just waiting in the wings
The view from Pine Walk in Shaftesbury, on a winter morning.
Itโs a crisp winter morning here in Shaftesbury, one that makes your fingers tingle when you get into the warm again. The fields wear a glistening cloak of frost and the sky is a brisk fresh blue. The first snowdrops nudge through beechnut clad frozen ground. All is well.

There are so many paragraphs that had us nodding hard in agreement, and sometimes weeping too.

Itโs a frosty old morning on the hill today, and rather beautiful out across the Blackmore Vale.
Weโre open today & tomorrow before our two weeks off, where weโll take a bit of time to relax and reflect on the past year and plan for 2025.

The award winning FOLDE Dorset bookshop in Shaftesbury Dorset
In between all our lovely customers (thank you โบ๏ธ) we had a little glow up of our big window. We say big with the irony of a bookshop on a wonky hillโฆ but even so, we think itโs looking particularly inviting right now.
Pop in to see us and explore our shelves ๐
